Just saw it on Channel 7.... (in Syd)

Features next generation check in, domestic business lounges etc and uses that really nice music from the A380 ad we all like....

Can't find it on youtube yet...

I'm sure they'll amp up the marketing on next gen check in as it rolls out in Syd and Mel. Used it for the first time last week - very very quick - loving it!

Not only are the commercials to promote next gen check in but also the revamp of Qantas' domestic and tasman offering

From mid november onwards some of things you can expect to see:

Business
Introduction of entree on Perth cityflyer and Tasman flights
Better food selection in lounges
Energizer offered in the morning as pre take off drink
Rockpool designed menus more frequently changed
Metal Knives!!

Economy
Mixed choice of fruit as opposed to the current offering of a single fruit
Increase in the freshness of food
Four menu changes with increased rotations
Sparkling wine

This new offering will be implemented over a few months, so you might not see all the above changes all at once.

Metal knives will be a welcome return. Even AA manage to provide them these days.

I'm curious to see what the entree option will be on TT. I guess I'll find out on the 26th when I fly SYD-WLG in J :)

I wonder if the Rockpool menus that change more frequently is just a code for more flavours of the NPPP (the thai vegetable one I had last week in SYD was awful) :D

Yes I really would like to introduce the catering staff at the QP to the Four and Twenty Part Pie. I know it is not ideal but it has to be better than the Fred Perry inspired fodder.

The party pies themselves are usually okay (you can't really go wrong) but they're usually not available for as long - it's the regular, larger pies that vary in taste and quality. I'll admit to being partial to the hot peppery one (at first), but you certainly can't go back for seconds without a fire engine in tow.

And I second the comment about the Thai vegie one, so hard to go wrong with a Thai chicken pie, but this one was pretty ordinary.

Metal knives or plastic knives, Qantas will still be washing/re-using them.

So?

Restaurants re-use cutlery. I re-use cutlery.

I'd just prefer to eat a meal with metal rather than plastic :)

Don't forget the ever present wheel of cheese! Very much a Crackerjack moment every time!

.

Huge tick for more variety of fruit!

Sorry I'm not a meat pie type, into my health and fitness so more healthy options welcome :)

Sparkling wine in Y will keep the punters very happy.... Interested to know what drop it will be??

Alas it's probably the Jacobs Creek cough they already usually have on board available on request (at least on transcon and NZ flights).

+1
Good Point Pauly. Finally someone else on AFF who has seen the light!
2 standard pie's and you've got your daily salt (sodium) intake. I honestly don't know why people eat pie's or sausage rolls? Not to mention all the other cough they put in them. I stay away from anything like that with a barge poll.

Oneworldplus2 dont forget to save yourself for the Sydney dinner in less than 2 weeks.
Are you picking up hitch hikers so we can talk about the commercial and metal knives?

Well yeah, it is already available (unless they are going to change it) .. Jacob's Creek Moscato is what is usually in the bar, however is sometimes substituted for a Pinot Noir Chardonnary also from Jacob's Creek, but mostly the Moscato.

....yes but the knifes will be designed by Marc Newson, so they won't actually be functional!

I think it will be a Noritake knife... but don't quote me on that.
