new QF dress regulations - social media backlash

Has lounge behaviour improved since the enforcement of the 'smart casual' policy? Have all the DYKWIAs stopped talking loudly on mobiles? Have people stopped dropping crumbs all over the floor and leaving the place a mess? Have people stopped placing bags on spare seats rather than on the floor?
  1. A little IMHO.
  2. No
  3. No
  4. No

So have the changes proved totally unsuccessful or somewhat useful? Somewhat useful IMHO.

Yes definately agree with no singlets and rubber thongs. If a woman has on a decent pair of sandals that have a strap between the toes that should be ok.
The business lounges are not the Jetstar/air asia flights to Bali full of bogan males dressed in shorts, thongs and singlets. Imagine having to rub shoulders, thighs and BO with them on a plane playing sardines in economy. Yuk. How they are dressed in business is how they will get on the plane.
A bit of decorum is required in the business lounge. Also either children are not allowed or there should be a seperate walled off section for people with kids. Ie another adults only zone.

I wish there was a thumbs down option with the recent upgrades to this forum.

Stop stereotyping all children as bad when it comes to airport behaviour and travel. A lot of it has to do with the way the parents are monitoring the children.

There are other groups of travellers that can be quite annoying and they consist of adults so you really aren't solving any problems by having an adults only zone (i.e it won't stop the loud boozers or those who don't use headphones for their Skype calls etc.)

Yes it does have a lot to do with the way parents are monitoring the children. And many let them run riot! And I mean run, run about.
A separate section would keep everyone happy. Its a "Business lounge"-not a "family" lounge, perhaps there should be both.
At least kids travelling in business on the plane seem to be able to behave.

I chose not to have kids, this was one of the many reasons, seeing the behaviour of others. So why should I have to put up with it?
Also subsequently as the planet is overpopulated and eventually doomed, unless human breeding can be reduced, seems like an additional good idea as I wont be around to see the turmoil before the end and neither will my offspring.

Again with the stereotypes. This type of segregation will do nothing to keep everyone happy. You'd still have to contend with others, and there is no guarantee their behaviour will be any better or worse than the kids you mention.

It sounds as if smaller quiet zones or rooms may be a better solution, as it keeps those wanting peace and quiet away from the loud skypers etc.

This is exactly why standards are set. Everyone is different so clashes and upset faces will occur and standards are designed to limit those problems. It then just needs for those standards to be enforced uniformly.

IMHO, rarely is a child the problem ...

Hard to see how not having children of one's own helps with poor behaviour by other people's children (aka OPCs), unless one had no faith in one's ability to bring the children up well - and not take them on commercial flights when they were too young to be quiet in company

Just giving everyone fair warning. I will be in the QF first lounge in Sydney on 12th April with My 8 year old granddaughter and twin 5 year old grandsons !!!!!!! You can be rest assured they will behave or they will quickly be removed by myself from the lounge ( that's the boys I'm meaning as my granddaughter has been in the lounge on many occasions). Under no circumstances would I allow them to disrupt others. Bribery often works ;)

Ours are generally very well behaved but the 5 year old twins can get a bit mischevious at times but they will be told to be on their best behavior in the lounge :)
In your case I believe Isochronous was not only spelling correctly "mischevious" for mischievous and "behavior" for behaviour, but correct generally, although he's mentioned parental standards only, not grandparental standards, which should be far higher than those of the morons who masquerade as parents today.

I do give great thanks that I will neither be in the first lounge at the Sin City international terminal or flying that day at all.

maureeng seems to consider it reasonable that her grandchildren may - almost certainly shall - ruin everyone else's lounge visit and flight.

Appallingly done madam, but you really must learn English.

However, no children is emphatically the solution.

Are you serious!!! I was having a bit of a laugh and also if you had read my post I said if my grandchildren were to misbehave I would immediately remove them from the lounge as I would not have them disturb others. I have taken my grandchildren on business class flights where they were commended by the staff on their behavior. I think your comments are extremely rude and obviously you have no sense of humor.
You must have a lot of spare time on your hands to correct everyone's spelling also.
My grandchildren have much more manners.

One of the funniest interviews I ever heard was Mel Brooks and Buck Henry talking about writing Get Smart.

They were writing one day and the CIA called on them and asked them how did they know about the cone of silence? But the funny part was how did they know it didn't work.
