New QF Home Page

They use standard templates these days ... much of IT is simple painting on screen buildimg blocks ... have a look at the AA & HHonors home pages.

In defence of QF, from their perspective the question is, how many visitors 'arrive' at Qantas.com.au to:

1. Book a flight (or ancillary)
2. Browse but don't book
3. Log-in to their QFF account/manage bookings

Surely they hope for as many 1's as possible, but big impressive banner specials might entice 2's to book. QFF members and those with bookings are considered to be already 'rusted on' so category 3 doesn't need/get valuable real estate on the home page.

The QantasPoints enhancement shows the trend ... QFF isn't Qantas, it isn't about flying anymore.

It's ridiculous. Start typing a city name, it's just a blank box, no selections available. No option for one ways, just doesn't work.

Actually don't mind it all the normal functionality is there once you take a minute to look for it. Agree the banner could be smaller but it is good to see the specials more prominent as long as it doesn't become a bill board for general advertising.

Does anyone else find the booking engine doesn't work in Chrome? The boxes don't populate as you type. Works fine in Firefox.

The current Captain (video) on the home page is a great bloke ... was once the check pilot for 767.

Looks awful. Only comes up intermittengly.

I have been searching for both paid and award flights the past couple of weeks and some of the functionality has disappeared and/or replaced. Their focus groups if they are using them are not focussed on the right changes. You want to increase functionality not reduce it.

Interesting that I cannot book an award BKK-ICN online. Hmmm. Why?

Aesthetically I don't mind it, and I'm not a tablet user. Can't comment on functionality changes as the only flight I've had to book recently was a one-way BNE-CBR.

I have noticed that occasionally when clicking between tabs on the front page their JavaScript doesn't quite pick it up in time to stop my browser from following the backup links that they've placed on each tab. Not a huge issue in the scheme of things, but a bit annoying.

Update:

From today, Australia-based customers who visit qantas.com will experience a brand new homepage.

The new-look homepage is the first in a number of steps to make qantas.com easier to use, and more personalised for customers each time they visit. The re-design incorporates our new brand guidelines as well as months of data-driven research and user testing.

The improvements mean that customers will now have their page load times halved, making qantas.com consistently faster.

Keep the feedback coming...

Just noticed the homepage we've been seeing has gone live as the main homepage ( as RedRoo posted above)
I haven't had much of a play but I actually really like the look of it.. Very modern and contemporary.

So much screen space wasted on ads, so little on what counts.
This struck me as odd too, how the text was displaced so much to the right. I wonder if it could be an unintended scripting issue...?
