The rumour mill is hard at work again. It seems QF is about to announce some enhancements to its international economy class service. Many of the aspects rumoured to be included are the things that are often the basis for complain here.

Hopefully an official announcement very soon. But expect some improvements around the treatment/welcome for elite FF members, as well as more regular refreshment service.

Fingers crossed, some improvements in long haul economy are long overdue

I guess they have to differentiate the service somehow from the upcoming Deathstar International.

The QF dictionary ...

enhance v.
i. To make one thing greater, as in value, beauty, or effectiveness; augment, at the same time as making other things lesser, as in value, beuaty or effectiveness.
ii. To provide one aspect with improved, advanced, or sophisticated features and simultaenously to provide other aspects with worsened, less advanced or simpler features.

(modified from www.dictionary.com)

:D

From another board it would appear the rumour is accurate. The source of this info on this link is very reliable 8) .

These "enhancements" all look good to me :D .

Just had a quick peek over there. LMAO at a few of the exchanges!!! Funny stuff. :D

Less formal PAs. Eg "Hello everyone" will be used rather than "Good morning ladies and gentleman"

Looking forward to that one, definatley worth mentioning as an enhancement

Refreshments every 15 minutes should be nice though. Hopefully that will include light snacks as well as drinks. My pet hate on the evening SYD-BKK flights is being fed right after take-off and going hungry until just before landing.

It'll be interesting watching them try to greet each Frequent Flyer, I'm guessing this won't be a personal greeting (on long haul flights surely more than half of the pax are at least Bronze flyers)

This is why QF are sourcing the A380's, or can't you see??

With personal greetings for QFF's etc it'll take all bl**dy day, so one boarding line will consist of WP/SG (red carpet optional) on upper deck forward, with PS carrying WP carry-ons as they turn right to the rear.

NB's will have the option of rolling up the red carpet, mixing with the unwashed on the lower decks or deployed in housekeeping roles for the PS's upstairs and aft:P

Well looking at all the benefits below...

* The CSM/CSS will introduce themselves individually to all QF frequent flyers in all classes

* Less formal PAs. Eg "Hello everyone" will be used rather than "Good morning ladies and gentleman"

* Hot towels after takeoff

* Pax with special meals will have them reconfirmed with them after takeoff

* Any leftover newspapers from F/J will be distributed to Platinum members in Y class and downwards (ie Gold -> Silver -> Bronze)

* Cabin crew will wear aprons when serving in the cabin (ala Cafe/Bistro style)

* Hot bakery with all main meal services

* Hot chocolate and herbal tea will be available. Regional drinks will be introduced (eg Cranberry Juice on US flights, Soy milk on asian flights)

* Continual refreshment throughout the flight (every 15mins)

I will look forward to the changes but I'm not going to be too fussed about it. I'll appreciate any acknowledgement of all WP/SG/PS members though and the hot bakery will be interesting.

Regards
Daniel

I have seen the newspaper one done on domestic flights occasionally, and has the odd CSM/CSS introduce themselves but that is even more occasional.

They seem to be little refinements that won't cost QF an awful lot to implement, so why not.

I do think these "enhancements" address most of the recent complaints I have read from people travelling in international economy. Some are trivial, and some will take considerable effort (CSM personal intros). But any attempt to address the main complain areas is a good move in my opinion.

I'd happily forego every single one of these 'enhancements' for more legroom in economy.

For 'hot bakery' read 'heated to the consistency of stone'.

For 'confirm your special meal' read 'make sure we don't give it to the passenger in the row in front of you by mistake'.

The Japanese believe (well, ok, my fiance & her friends) that soymilk increases your breast size  . Just a tip for the ladies and a warning to the boys  .

I'm inclined to agree with the comments by Anna and some others. Half (or more) of these "enhancements" just bring QF up to speed with many Asian carriers, while I question the value of greeting each FF specially... there are surely more important things to do. The snack runs are an interesting idea.

I think that the "less formal PAs" sounds awful .... leave them well alone... What next, the FAs addressing passengers by their first names ...ugh

Also, wouldnt it make more sense to reconfirm special meals *before* takeoff so that problems can be fixed before the aeroplane is up in the air

Next they will be addressing passengers by their middle name ... "Welcome back, 10*, please let me know if there is anything you need".

Best place for confirmation is at check-in. No time to fix it once the passengers are on board.

Perhaps they are just going to confirm that they don't have your special meal, as opposed to just ignoring it altogether.

IIRC, some time ago, if you had a special meal request in your (international) booking a notation would appear on your BP. This does not appear to happen any more.
