... I had a situation coming back BNE-LAX. I was seated in 26F and the res clerk said it was pretty empty flight and would block D,E,G all for me.

Within 2 seconds of the seat belt light coming off, a lady asked if she could sit in 26D. What do you say??? No these 4 seats are all for me. ...
These days I would say no! Howeve it would not come to that. I learned the hard way on a BA flight KUL-SYD in the last days of when they plied that route. I had the same, basically a middle row of 4 WHY.

I was in the rightmost seat of the four and immediately the seatbelt sign went off, a guy materialised on the left. He promptly sat one seat in from the aisle and endeavered to appropriate each seat either side. Well, I did not let him, but instead of having the four seats, I ended up with two.

In a similar situation last year, I sat in the middle of the row of 4 and as soon as the seatbelt signs went off I lraised the armrests and lay down. Once I had established 'possession' there were no problems.

I had my first Domestic flight in a while. QF609 BNE-MEL today and noticed the distribution of left over newspapers.

FA walked from the front of economy to the back with the manifest and addressed all WP's by name and asked if they would like a newspaper. Then once all WP's were completed she went back to the front of the plane and started with the SG's.

I had this happen on one of my flights today (out of two, both sitting in 4A on a 738)... It is the first time I have seen the excess Newspapers being given out by FF Status... The guy had the manifest in his hand, and addressed us "Mr Dugway". Execept he added in a couple of extra syllables.

Very interesting... I guess one reason for it is OzJet... Qantas are trying to remind their higher FF's that they earn points on QF... A lot of WP's at the front of Economy would be on at least a Flexi-Saver, and these are getting into OzJet Territiory...

Just my 2c...

It'll be fun to watch them try to call everyone by Mr or Ms. Mr Smith is probably going to be ok, but I'm sure there are a hell of a lot of frequent flyers with slightly more complicated names!

I reckon once QFFs have tried OzJet they may well decided that the points are simply not worth it.

Absolutely. If people can just realise that points are not everything. I would take them instead of QF on the rare times that I could ( which unfortunately to MEL isn't v often )

Of course not. As long as convenient route and schedule on OzJet it doesnt make sense to pay more on QF and get less.

Yeah like mine!

I love to watch most people's faces trying to pronounce my four syllable family name. Most of the time I just complete it for them.

Was on a flight last night, when all that was left over were those strange orange coloured newspapers. Didn't seem to bother with unloading them on economy passengers.
