These days I would say no! Howeve it would not come to that. I learned the hard way on a BA flight KUL-SYD in the last days of when they plied that route. I had the same, basically a middle row of 4 WHY.robertz said:... I had a situation coming back BNE-LAX. I was seated in 26F and the res clerk said it was pretty empty flight and would block D,E,G all for me.
Within 2 seconds of the seat belt light coming off, a lady asked if she could sit in 26D. What do you say??? No these 4 seats are all for me. ...
I was in the rightmost seat of the four and immediately the seatbelt sign went off, a guy materialised on the left. He promptly sat one seat in from the aisle and endeavered to appropriate each seat either side. Well, I did not let him, but instead of having the four seats, I ended up with two.
In a similar situation last year, I sat in the middle of the row of 4 and as soon as the seatbelt signs went off I lraised the armrests and lay down. Once I had established 'possession' there were no problems.
