I am thinking of doing the same, Danger UXB! My in-laws want to go to Europe this year and a return trip in J would be very nice for them.

When I last checked, taxes PER-LHR-PER were $1100 on one of these redemptions. Does anybody know how much they are for CDG instead of LHR?

Well if the restructuring goes ahead I thought that a lot of those europe routes are at risk of being cut?

I don't see LHR and CDG being cut. AMS still does well, I think. So, the only one likely to go would be FRA and possibly IST.

Well the media reports were that the new nationalised MH would be focusing on being a regional carrier, so let's see . I personally wouldnt be booking Europe with them too far in advance

Huge increase....

Hopefully the big specials keep coming though :/

The upgrade costs don't seem to have risen as steeply. Does anyone know how this works currently i.e (a) from which Economy fares can you upgrade (b) what would be the availability of the Business fare bucket you would need to upgrade into (c) is it an instant answer or a lottery?
Thanks

At the time of writing, O class fares are the only commercial fares you can't upgrade from. Details here. They book into I class and it is an instant answer, although sometimes they may send off a request (maybe that's for MH status members, not sure). Also note:
1) Unlike some programs upgrades can be made on a journey basis depending on what you want and what is available. So MEL-KUL-BKK is simply a Zone 4 upgrade, not a Zone 4 upgrade for MEL-KUL + Zone 2 upgrade for KUL-BKK.
2) Taxes are re-assessed and extra payment will be required for higher fuel surcharges and higher taxes where applicable.

MH and Enrich won't know what's hit them come the weekend. Millions of miles being burned before Feb 16...and I'll be one of them. ;)

Thanks, that's really helpful. I imagine there will be some changes to the upgradeable classes in the future. Any feel for what the availability in I class is:-hoping it's similar to D but expecting it will be closer to the partner classes

Did my last MH spend in January
Thank god no points left in account.

All travel booked for 2015 so will reflect on the good old days where u could always get a FF seat on MH

Did a top-up transfer into account and then immediate burn.
Quick trip to Europe for Mrs D (birthday present)
MH balance 100 points! (not 100k)
Thanks MH, we've enjoyed 7x J legs to Europe past 12 months - all comes to an end Monday

Just booked 2 MEL Kathmandu return tickets in J for December for a spot of December trekking.

This will be our first trip back to Nepal for 3 decades!! So it will be interesting to see what has changed, or not changed.

The roads in Kathmandu have actually gotten worse

I burned 404k points over the weekend. Got 2x J tickets for my in-laws who wanted to go to Europe in August and got 2x J tickets for myself and my partner to London in December! Let's see what tomorrow brings in the world of Enrich...

New redemption rates are up (as of yesterday). So glad I burned my points on the weekend. SYD to LHR/CDG return now costs 195k miles in J (previously 102k) and SYD to KUL return in J is now 93k (previously 68k). There isn't even a promotion to ease the pain of these increases!

Yep big increase. Maybe they are doing this so that when they have 50% promotion it brings it back to the original levels :)

There are a few promotions but they all still cost more than the non-discounted old rates!

Emptied out my partners 400k (and my measly 34k) with various J awards on the weekend. Trouble we found with MH awards is it is difficult to do speculative awards as you can't get points refunded if not travelling (unlike QF, SQ etc) and surcharges refund come with substantial admin fee.

This lack of flexibility was acceptable at the low rates they charged but now that they charge SQ rates (with inferior product ) I would want to see more flexibility with award cancellation.
