New SQ J seats a shocker

We flew Syd > Sing yesterday on the new A380 and decided to avoid the new seat in future. It is way too hard, and the offset foot cubby makes for a very difficult sleeping position. The seat controls are badly placed leading to at least one false crew call by myself. Hard to understand how SQ could get this design through any focus group! The old super wide seat that flips over for sleeping is far more comfortable.

As discussed elsewhere on AFF, the design of these seats makes the sleeping position impossible. We don’t use Singapore for this reason. Why pay for comfort that is not provided.

Intending to try the new A350 J to ADL in a few weeks, will see how that fare. I haven't been to SQ's A380 J seats yet, luckily so far, all in F.

The Regional A350 seat is ok. Here it is on SQ245 last month (Bne-Sin) I sat in the second Business section - 21. It's more intimate and a better ride being close on the wings

Ah yes I had the same issues on SQ222 in November. False call to the poor staff they were usual polite and understanding. Hard to get decent sleep on that angle and the bed duvet wasn't that soft.

I'd be more inclined to pick which flight suits you better timing wise, but IMO the A359 was a tad quieter.

777-300ER? if so then they're the same

Go to seat Guru. Singapore operates multiple variants of the 777 including the 777-300 which is a higher density seat arrangement which they typically operate around Asian legs. The 777-200 ER and 300-ER appear to Australia and longer desto's. Here's the link: Singapore Airlines Flight Information

Felt the cabin had one row too many.

They have three variants on the A350-900. The Regional version we get in Australia, The Long range which does the 8 Hr plus stuff and the ULR ( ultra Long range) which does Newark - Singapore and is all prem Econ and Business

Isn't the regional one used for short hops such as those between SIN and India, Indonesia, and basically SE Asia? The "Standard" (Long range you've called it) would ply to ports such as MEL/ADL, etc?
The ULR only flies to/from EWR and LAX.

We get the Regional version out of BNE- and do does Adelaide- basically anything under 8 hrs

PER gets the regional A350 as well as the B787. I like the seat for the relatively short hop to SIN. The IFE is a signigficant upgrade to the B772ER and A330s we used to get.

Note I said 77W. And MEL gets the long haul version of the 359, and no 772s at all right now

I flew Korean Air 77W SIN-INC last November about 5.5 Hr leg they also use their A330-300 on those legs

I believe the 77W and the non regional 359 J seats are almost identical but 77W slightly wider due to wider fuselage of 777.
Both regular and regional J seats are great IMO. Always been able to get comfortable and sleep well.

I was worried about those offset cubby hole seats so on the legs where the bulkhead / bassinet seats were available, i took them. The only thing is i read afterwards that on those bulkhead / bassinet seats you can get moved last minute if there are people who require it more than you at which point i might miss out on my second choice which would be a window seat, how often does this happen?
