We're opening the new SYD Lounge tomorrow (Tuesday 2 September) at 11.30am, which will also have the V Australia business class and premium economy seats in the flesh. Will see what I can do about getting AFF members' names on the door if there is any interest?

I'm flying out to Melbourne on Wednesday arvo. Does this offer apply to those who normally don't have lounge access (eg the Silver members) and on the Wednesday?

Doesn't hurt to ask ;)

Thankyou for a great offer; shame I can't partake in it. I hope some members from Sydney can get along ... :D

Great news, I look forward to seeing it on Thursday.

Why is V hiding the economy seats?
not hiding, just want to keep the focus on the business class and premium economy seats - every airline has economy class seats, but people aren't necessarily expecting the higher end seats from us. The economy seats are fairly standard - haven't gone for the CX-style shell-back or anything extra-ordinary. They will be 9 abreast in the B777 which is a wider seat than the B747 (think the same as A380 but need to check) and with 32" pitch so they will be pretty comfortable.
cheers

A random question:
Are you going the 2-5-2 or the 3-3-3 layout for the economy cabin?

If in SYD T2 tomorrow, try this to get in - Virgin Blue > Sydney Lounge Member Invitation

They must be low on RSVPs, if they are emailing this out this afternoon!

Hi there

I can't make this event (no cheap fares in the morning:( ), if anyone from here is going can you take a camera and get some shots please.

Cheers

If the display seats make their way back up to the Lounge in BNE, I think it would be a good chance for me to see them.

Can't make it down to SYD tomms unfortunately, otherwise I'd attend!

3-3-3
Personally I prefer this layout over 2-5-2 but am aware that opinion is quite divided.

I am with you, but i travel alone a lot of the time.
But i can see the point of 2-5-2 and why it is really an advantage it just look horrible.
(If you get an empty flight and could lie across 5 seats that would be nice !)

I have heard that a problem with 3-3-3 is that it can be a pain if there are lots of couples on the flight, as can happen to some of those romantic holiday destinations! (personally I prefer the 3-3-3)

We're leaving the seats on display in the new SYD T2 Lounge for a while [a few weeks I believe] but they will also get to BNE Lounge.

Good luck trying to convince an airline worker, on a public forum, to give something away for free to someone they don't know, when they normally charge for it! (:!:Everyone would start asking.)

When flying DJ, The Lounge passes are $30, pre-paid at https://www.virginblue.com.au/public/system/thelounge/index.html?passes=true. Or $5 more tomorrow, pre-flight at The Lounge reception.

If you go, pics and a report would be good to read. Thanks.

What is the point of 2-5-2 configuration? It's not the same old argument that instead of 2 passengers 2 seats away from the aisle there is only 1 passenger 2 seats away from the aisle?

In my opinion any aircraft with 5 abreast seating is truly horrible regardless of the width of the seats....

Hi there

I get a better sleep on a 5 abreast if the aircraft is lightly loaded:mrgreen:
