Agreed. International award bookings used to be overseas call centres but domestic itineraries were Brisbane. Since about April everything has been handled overseas

Hasn't been that recent for me. But I would say over the last month I have tried a few times and keep getting connected to overseas. They are pleasant and knowledgeable enough (unlike Qantas) so I don't really mind. But I hope this isn't a long term enhancement, I really value speaking to the local staff.

Have done it as late as last year.
This year I have already gifted one and have just ticked over enough to gift another so I too will be calling up and enquiring about it

As of this time, yes we can't process your companion nomination yet, as we can only nominate a Companion Nomination for GOLD OR PLATINUM one at the time during your benefit period 28 February 2022 to 28 February 2023. Since you have already used and nominated someone as a Platinum on last 23 August 2022 this has been deducted already on your current review period as a Platinum member.

You'll have to wait by the end of 28 February 2023 which will assessed your eligibility for the new benefit period as a Platinum member. Any Status Credits earned outside the benefit period is not counted for eligibility.

Could you not just use family pooling and pool your points and stats to them. Then they can gift status to someone else once got to platinum

True and haven’t thought of that. Both myself and Mrs Jase are Platinums and normally both gift Platinum but this year we will go well over that as I’ve gifted one already and Mrs Jase has ticked over the mark to gift one aswell.
I guess another option is to potentially revisit crediting to other partner airlines and if it makes sense or not as I must admit I’m not fully across the UA/QR/AC partnerships fully yet
