Is it just me, or does the old domain redirect to Zuji?

The domain is still owned by admin; this looks like some other sort of commercial arrangement.

Regarding the ownership/use of the old domain name: We continue to have full ownership of frequentflyer.com.au. It hasn't been sold to anybody or any organisation. We will be using it to redirect to the new domain for at least 6 months.

Yes, it currently redirects via an affiliate link to Zuji. (The redirect was put up yesterday - didn't take long for someone to notice!)

This is temporary. Only the old home page (ie. www.frequentflyer.com.au) redirects to Zuji. Internal community links (eg. www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/community-announcements/we-changing-our-domain-name-24790.html) still redirect to the new domain. These links will remain for at least another 3 months.

We haven't sold frequentflyer.com.au to anyone.

In the new year, we will be looking at doing something with it. This could well be a trade sale, or it could be used for a new business.

Would recommend that you set up a URL shortener if you want to get to the forum main page; per the below quote, bit.ly/getdaily was set up for the "getdaily" forum search query and admin encouraged folks to set up their own if they so desired...:

You can create your own shortcuts to specific AFF pages using various free web services. I like bit.ly | Basic | a simple URL shortener, but there are many other similioar services.

the redirection goes to an affiliate link which then goes to zuji. So admin can make a few bucks off anyone buying fares through zuji.

Admin, I trust you've sought legal advice about the domain, redirection and sale. I've been through this a million times over the years, different rules and policies govern .au as opposed to ICANN regs.

Recently another forum I visit a lot bought a shorter domain name that closely resembled their domain name, but with a country code ending, as I’m sure many have seen (bit.ly is libya), for their Twitter account posts. This shorter URL could also double as a quick way to get to their site, if it wasn’t for their already short URL.

I wonder if admin has thought about doing similar, perhaps (and I’m not sure if this is possible or available) affly.er/ or something similar. Then instead of using bit.ly for shortening thread links and getting to the site, a domain owned by the site could be used, makes it a bit more personalised, perhaps easier to remember if it closely resembles the site name.

When using the internet in Lounges and Internet cafes I use Google and type in "Australian Freq...." and AFF is one of the first few options available. Click on the link and I am able to use AFF.

In fact I do this for all websites as I do not like typing url's into browsers (even on my own laptops) and also no need to remember website names and specific pages.
