New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

Stay connected so you can catch up on the daily case numbers during your escape 😂
You wouldn't want to miss a single minute of a press conference......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

On a side note, for anyone who is in Australia but had Air New Zealand flights booked over Xmas (I had some trans tasman and domestic ones), I was able to call up this morning and ask for a credit on the basis that the trans tasman bubble is no more.

Oh dear… well it’s only bad news because they choose to make it bad news, there’s nothing stopping NZ from opening really now…
With ~150-200 cases a day and increasing spread to different areas it is bad news for Jacinda and comrades. Failure to control and slowing vaccination rates. To everyone else is what was expected.
The 13:00 show time is 85% political & 15% health

They just need to let go…

Interesting to see that Australia is back in front of NZ in both first and second doses. (According to ourworldindata which uses total population rates).

Vaccination rates have dropped off sharply, while capital cities will hit 90% fairly easily there are many regional areas which will struggle and the current plan is that ALL district health boards have to get to 90%. I've pretty much resigned myself to the idea my booking mid December will be cancelled by Air NZ (SYD-WLG).

To me the chances on NZ opening the border, without MIQ, before new year is zero.
Next MIQ lottery is Thursday 16 Nov Managed Isolation and Quarantine
The release will be for approximately 4,200 rooms across November – February

About 5% are not showing up for the 2nd jab in NZ, which I have read is about the same as many other countries.
The anti-vax/anti-lockdown/anti-vacc certs/anti-anything are a vocal minority who are getting to too many people.

Just when I thought this thread was dead. Does anyone know anything about QF316 from Christchurch to Brisbane today? It appears Qantas operated an empty 737 over to Christchurch under the disguise of QF6002 before coming back into Brisbane as QF316. I saw this flight on Brisbane airports website yesterday but nothing appeared on booking sites making me think it may have been some type of travel agents charter?

It was a quarantine free flight because it used gate 73A in Brisbane (gates 82-86 are red zone whilst anything under 81 is currently quarantine free). Expert flyer shows there were about 92 in Economy plus 7 in Business class. It seems they've also operated QF316 from CHC to BNE on on 21 Nov and 3, 8 December.

There was an article recently about a Dunedin travel agency arranging charter flights, the one you spotted fits the pattern.......

I feel the same and I'm not even there.

I've got a bunch of credits from a cancelled trip in July, including return vehicle on the interislander - but I don't want to go anymore and will just write off the credits.

Got an unexpected Christmas Present from Jacinta.

The date interislander moved my booking to (March 2022) now has been cancelled (I assume due to extended border closures) and now they’re giving me a full refund even though I booked the non refundable fare

$370 extra in my wallet this week that I wasn’t expecting. Happy times.

I emailed the Interislander to ask about a refund of my non-refundable fare when I Qantas cancelled flights over Christmas to NZ. They were prompt in their reply and happily offered a refund. I found most NZ operators really good to deal with in regard to obtaining refunds.
