I've never dealt in lounge invitations before, so pls excuse the bleeding obvious questions. I've checked the Qantas web site but am double checking here as experiences can differ to what an airline has on its site.

In my Qantas app, I have two 'lounge invitations' via Points Club and I wish to gift them to two young friends of mine who are flying Jetstar from SYD-HND EDIT : KIX in a month or so and who are QFF members (VERY NB). They will be flying prior to the Invitation expiry.

* The Qantas info says they lounge invitations can be used on JQ 'eligible flights' but I can't find a definition of an 'eligible flight' in this context. Any fare type or other exclusions known?

* I guess its the Qantas International Business Lounge they will be accessing? (No, not the First, but just checking ...)

* If they go in, can they exit and officially go back in a again, or is it at the discretion/whim of the lounge dragon?

* I can see the special section where I go to link to their JQ flights. I guess the name has to be EXACTLY as on their QFF account? Anything else to be careful of/look out for?

* Any other common mistakes that I can avoid?

Thanks ....

If on Jetstar you don't need to transfer them the invitation you can just link it out of your account.

At the bottom of the invitations page you can link to Jetstar.

Then you just enter in all the details:

Once submitted you get an email with a QR code and you show the QR code and JQ boarding pass at the lounge entrance.

Correct it's the international business lounge.

Yes they can, may just need to show QR code pass again.

Yes, that's the bit I found; thanks for confirming. It doesn't ask for the recipient's QFF number?

You in this case being the recipient :)

Many thanks. The only other time they've been in an airline lounge was when I guested one of them into Cathay The Wing First at HKG as part of an 18th birthday present and she discovered the Champagne Lounge. 🤣

For Jetstar not needed. Just their details.

I travelled with a family member and put my email in and then just forwarded them the email.

Subject is : Your Qantas lounge access confirmation.

Email even says that:
1. Forward this to other passengers in your booking if you arranged lounge access for them.
2. Keep this confirmation handy for your records when you get to the airport.
3. Here’s a friendly reminder about our lounge access dress code. We ask all passengers entering our lounges to follow these guidelines.
4. Check in and present your boarding pass at the lounge entrance to access and enjoy the lounge before your flight. You’ll need to show your confirmation email as well when you arrive at the lounge so keep it with you at all times.

Ah! Excellent; thanks again. But even that's a little ambiguous wrt 'you' - there's no question that I don't need to be with them?

One thing just to double check, are they flying SYD - CNS/BNE - NRT or SYD - KIX - HND?

JQ doesn't fly direct to HND or NRT from SYD so that may alter the use case slightly.

The other thing to check is if the relevant QF lounge is accepting invites. I sent some (PC ones) to friends who were flying QF but weren’t able to link them to their flights because there was a blackout period…😔

Flying to KIX :) Sorry. my mistake in OP. They are flying back from HND on QF.

Are blackout periods defined? Sudh as school hols? But at least its prevented at the start, not that they get refused admission (which I'll tell them may occur if lounge is crowded)

The lack of visibility around the blackout periods is a pain.

I’m doing PER-SIN in late June and SIN-SYD in late July. The Perth lounge is not available but the Singapore lounge is 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Perth international lounge has never been eligible for voucher redemptions.

Oddly because the JQ system is a lot more flexible whereby you enter the details not linked to a booking I tend to find the blackout periods aren't as strictly enforced whereas because it's booking based on QF then they're a lot more tighter.
