Hi Everyone,
I've read a bunch of really interesting (and largely very helpful) articles on AFF for some 18 months now. They've helped convince me to go down the credit card frequent flyer bonus point route and ultimately end up with enough points to get myself, my better half and our young daughter to the US of A and back for a family wedding, using almost entirely points. I'm also trying out Fiji Airways for the first time, flying LAX-NAN with a four day stopover, before heading direct to Aus (NAN-ADL). I was trying to avoid the dreaded DFW-SYD with a two and a half year-old, so thought a stopover in Fiji would do the trick.
I'm interested in ways to best utilise points for flight upgrades, the worthwhile aspirations of Qantas status tiers (?) and whether or not to bother accruing and collecting Qantas points anymore.
There's a few threads I wish to add to on here, after having being denied entry to Qantas' business class lounge in LAX (with valid entry passes - i see i'm not the only one!); How to obtain seating together (as a family) on American Airlines internal flights; also, i'm going to Mexico soon (to Cancun) and taking the family, but am extremely worried about recent increases in criminal activity in the area (See SBS' Beach Wars doco on Mexico - Acapulco and Cancun) and would like a run-down from anyone who's been to the Hotel Zone there fairly recently (and their opinions on the situation).
Anyway, that's pretty much about it. I used to fly a lot for work, internally within Australia (on both Virgin and Qantas), reaching gold equivalent status in both, but these days i'm dwindling down around Silver/Bronze and happy with the balance i've got going on right now. It's all about family holidays now!
Thanks a bunch,
B
