which did you prefer of the shiraz and cabernet?
yes, I know what you say about the fuller, fruitier barossan shirazes and they have their place. But the west ozzies have brought an elegance and finesse to their wines that allows the empirical essence of the wine to come thru. Sounds fancy but the western Australian producers have created wine with less clutter, certainly less oak and probably more acidity to give more freshness. I taste them all on their merits not really worrying where they come from but at the end of the day, there is night...oops, what I meant to say is a good wine is a good wine. Thanks for the info on a new winery !I didn't prefer one over the other.
I began as a lover of the Cabernet, However the shiraz was a surprise package for me, it doesn't try to compete with or imitate the Barossa styles, it is a classy wine and whilst it carries a number of classic Shiraz characteristics, it has a certain something that makes it that little bit different.
it is also not really expensive (like the Suckfizzle and the luminosa),

Popped in to Innocent Bystander today to take advantage of their barrel hall sale (also on tomorrow) and enjoyed the IB Syrah with lunch. A definite favourite of ours, very easy to drink and affordable at $25 ($34 dining in). Picked up a few cases of the Giant Steps Sexton Pinot for $20/bottle, absolute bargain.
Just helping you keep those neck muscles limberCome on BC. My neck hurts.
And Cabernet Franc?Only merlot should be sideways
Friend had a dinner party last night with the theme being Italian wine or Italian varietal. One impostor in there too.

What did you think of the Pecorino? We chased down a few last year in Italy. The Pecorino variety is an interesting grape. Very old variety which almost died out but has had a revival in recent years. Quite restricted in area (mainly Abruzzo, Umbria in our direct experiences) and a nice interesting wine
