No economy X on short haul international MEL-NAN

I have just made a booking for MEL-NAN for June next year, and the flight has no Economy X seats available to either purchase or for me to select as a Plat. Prior to actually booking they were showing, but now booked, gone!

Looking at flights on any other day for this route, pretty much every other Economy X seat is available.

I doubt they are all fully booked and J is empty, so it's not some sort of media event IMO

The return flight which generally uses the same aircraft has Econ X seats available to book.

Must just be all plats on my flight

Are you looking in the app or website? I have my first VA flights in ages and noticed on the whY sectors that the app is just showing me pleb seat selection and I have to go to the website to see Exon X and Preferred seat selection.

As it turns out there was a large extended family group travelling, with the Platinum member (bag tag, an loudly announcing it between his travelling group) who made the booking, and took his 8 extra free Economy X seats and then paid for the rest.

I find it really had to travel VA on anything longer than 2 hours, the MEL-NAN flight has great timing at around 9/10am but the kids and rarely travelled people make it a loud flight..

Coming back on FJ, in either Y or J is such a nice experience

I agree with you. VA is a short flight airline. Having said that I am doing CNS HND soon so lets see how that goes. My expectations are quite low so it may work.
