PER will have no or very few international flights in the coming years.

I remember that PER was looking at upgrading for the A380.

I think those plans will be now shelved.

Why will they be shelved? Considering QF has basically dumped all of its PAX to EK, wouldn't they be still be looking at 380 flights to PER?

Where is the evidence for this?

We have picked up a few new airlines over the last few years, and most airlines have been upping capacity.

EK have added a third daily, SQ are nearly 4 daily, MH twice, D7 twice shortly.

Even QZ and GA have announced more flights recently.

And regarding the A380, that was for EK who have said they want to send one as soon as the gate is ready, WAC is the only thing holding them back. If anything EK will pick up more traffic ex PER now.

Good! It's not like anyone here has weeks of time off, excessive cash to spend, and a weird patriotism and love of the Roo that is only overridden by a love of cheap alcohol.

On a serious note. the A380 will happen. QF has handed EK all the PER pax, they have to get them to DXB somehow.

Not at all true.

WAC has just completed the tender process for the major stage of the PER redevelopment (VA domestic pier and expansion of international terminal) and will be completed by mid-late 2014.
2x A380 capable gates will be built, with EK keen to commence services asap (they have been for a while apparently, but WAC has had a hard time meeting their infrastructure needs)

I am not sure you should believe the "build it and they will come" mantra, similar things have been said about BNE in the past, we have had A380 gates for some time with even a direct A380 access lounge. From what I am hearing, Australia as a destination is not the A380s best fit.
