There is going to be quite a big hole over France for flight paths for the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, due to a 'no fly zone' or 'temporary flight restriction'

I do have security concerns for this event, but air travel isn’t something that came to mind. Really do disagree with the decision, they should spend more time focusing on ground ops, not air ops.

yeah it just feels like there'll be disruptions by irritants for pretty much any notable event anywhere these days, so presumably the Olympics will be no exception. Given that it's France, there's also a higher propensity for serious terrorism.

That seems a very large NFZ though. I thought some clearance would be needed for the inevitable drone display and footage during the opening ceremony in case a few go astray, but not that much

Well, they are using the Seine for the open water swimming events and triathlon What could possibly go wrong. Athletes will need a full on anti biotic treatment after.

NH 214 HND-CDG, AI143 & UK 21 (both DEL-CDG),

and a few replaced by alternative flights or timings:
SQ 332 SIN-CDG (replaced by a one off flight ~12 hrs earlier), MU569 PVG-CDG, 5 hrs earlier,OZ ICN-CDG replaced by flight ~4hrs earlier, AF199 BKK-CDG 4 hrs earlier, AF253 SGN-CDG, 1.5 hrs earlier.

Well, as a minimum, it’s going to stop summon in Cessna dive bombing into the opening ceremony and exploding a bomb in the middle of everything.

it’s not a unique idea and was in place for the London Olympics as well.

London air space is now in lockdown mode and the RAF has orders to use “lethal force” should the 2012 London Olympics come under threat from above. The prohibited zone is about 30 miles wide but it does not affect commercial aircraft which fly in established air traffic corridors. Letters have...

They just launched Navigo on Apple Pay, so hopefully visitors learn to use that... Unfortunately in practice I suspect there's still be a large number of people who *must* line up and buy a single-trip ticket from a person for every ticket (you see this a lot in Japan, where many can just get a transit card on their iPhone).
