The credit can be used for any fare, disc whY, flex whY, J, F etc. you may need to call to get flex whYThe flight used to need to be a 'Saver' fare to be able to redeem. Does anyone know if it is now a 'Gateway' fare that needs to be available to be able to redeem the flight?

Has to be used all at once.
Credit can only be applied to one transaction, if it's less than $200 you don't get the difference.
I would hate to spend say $50, then learn the hard way the rest of the $150 is gone!

Thanks Steady. I should have included in my question that I wish to redeem the flight before the 30 March 2017 cutoff, so was after which Virgin fare type (Gateway, Elevate, Freedom) needs to be available in order to redeem.
They never used too, but since the changes they may well be booking into eligible fare classesThis is almost irrelevant as the flight will soon be no more, but I was under the impression that the free flight would not gain me any Velocity Miles or status credits. I used my flight recently and got both, including my Velocity Silver 50% bonus. Have you guys experienced this previously?
