No more free items from retail menu when flying business

Having enjoyed the Pirate Life Pale complimentary in J, hopefully they will enhance their J drinks menu with it , either way if you like craft beer, $10 for a craft beer isn't too expensive. Its great to see airlines like VA and SQ realise the craft revolution that so many of their passengers are enjoying.

With LTG just about in the bag I booked my first VA flight in a long time a month or so ago. It's in J so I don't think I'll be too disappointed, but I love how as soon as I'm willing to consider what the opposition is offering, not only do I lose IFE (another thread suggested they were removing the Samsung devices and I would have to BYO), but I also lost the option to choose anything else from the Y menu if the J menu isn't too my liking.

I appreciate they're trying to reign in costs, but they're doing right when I am considering them again :(

Great!!!!! I am flying fully paid J Perth via Syd to Auckland on Friday 11 Oct. Per-Syd in 'the business'. Now What?

Last flight in August, I was plyed with gorgeous choc bars and choc coated popcorn. Is that a business exclusive or on the economy paid menu?
Also I am a Fish-Vego, will have chicken if I have to. Allergic to tomatoes. I don't want the vego in pre ordered food selection always get tomatoes. The salmon sounds great.
If it happens they run out they used to rustle me up something from economy. So what can I expect on Friday? I am half way down the business section. Better pig out in the lounge first I guess. Bkfast cereal option will be ok but what about evening meal out of Syd in the 737? Im in row 2.

Also they wouldn't want to loose the tablets on board. Am I supposed to use my phone for entertainment viewing. Don't think they want that and its too small.

It has come to pass... I asked for an ink gin tonight and was told that they only just changed the rules and I have to pay for it. I was offered Gordon’s instead. If I’m going to pay for a drink I’ll do it when flying economy thanks.

I flew Melb - Bris yesterday and the gentlemen in 1A and C both wanted a Diet Coke and were told there was only one available and none could be sourced from economy under the new rules. Truely appalling.

That's ridiculous. They're on a hiding to nothing if things like that become common.

Hope the VA reps read this and communicate to staff. Understand the changes but a little common sense is required, I highly doubt this was senior management's intention.

Wouldn't be surprised if that happened 🤣

There’s one particular airline that QF codeshare with extensively that has started serving Pepsi out of bottles on board in economy so I usually will grab a coke out of the lounge for the 7 hr flight back to Singapore. But that’s economy not business.

But can you order ice from the retail menu? :)

True that ... Can't say for sure if the FA would be willing to go the extra mile and get me some ice cubes :P unless I'm willing to pay $5 for 4 ice cubes lol

Really comes down to what stock control, revenue protection measures they have put in place.
