No more secondary gate screening on Australia bound flights from certain airports?

Flew HKG-MEL on CX and there was none.

And HKG now using the new scanners where you don't have to take out anything.
 
We flew from SIN to AKL via MEL and had to rescreen our carry on in transit through MEL. Wow.
Australia’s policy on this is all transit passengers go through screening again with the one exception being if the flight has come from another Australian international terminal for example MEL-CNS-KIX on JQ during the transit in CNS no more screening is needed.

Yes. Reported that back in June. Iris scanning instead of boarding passes as well.

It's facial recognition, not iris scanning.

And yes, in places where there's the secondary liquids check, I've never noticed it to be thorough - seems like a total waste of time/money.
