One of my upcoming flights has had a 5 minute time change, Qantas codeshare on AA. Qantas has sent me the following email message. I really don't know what to make of it.

The updated flight details look correct in the change summary. Notice the strikethrough for all details on the original flight. Seems strange to change the previous date and route for a simply time change on the same flight.
Could some clown has deleted the flight and then rebooked or something (if that's how it works)

It's probably exactly the same flight, but AA have just adjusted the timing by a few mins, and the QF system sees it as an entirely new change..
Well yeah, it is the exact same flight QF4111, AA 72. two points of confusion - Premium economy isn't available so they've moved me to premium economy. - Like WTAF? A time change shouldn't require a change in cabin.

I have 3 awards on the same flight in premium economy on a separate booking and they did not get the premium economy not available message. That email says:

We’re sorry to let you know your flight AA72 to Los Angeles has changed, and is now scheduled to depart on Sunday xx_xx_X 2024 at 09:15.
And the updated flight details graphic lists just the Updated flight with the new time.

Looks to me like some clown at Qantas deleted the flight and then added it back. That should not be required for a time change of 5 minutes.

My guess is that as you're on QF4111 somehow there are no T class seats under that flight number so they've booked you onto the AA flight number that does have T class which is why the other bookings already under AA72 didn't get the message.
