I booked and paid for a couple of flights a few months back for myself and a friend. Since then the flights have changed a bit (different departure times and different aircrafts). The first I've learnt of these changes is from my flying companion contacting me and saying they received a change notification by email from Qantas.

As I booked and paid for the flights and am the booking contact I would have expected some sort of notification from Qantas, however, on two occasions now I've received absolutely nothing from Qantas while my flying companion has been notified by email. I've checked my settings and I'm opted in to all notifications and my contact details (email/phone) are all correct.

The only thing can think of is that my companions name is alphabetically before mine and perhaps they only send notifications to one person (though i don't know why they wouldn't notify both). At least someone is being notified, I suppose.

Any ideas why I'm not receiving change notifications?

Apologies if an answer/thread for this already exists. I've had a look but couldn't find anything.

Did you check spam?
Yes (though my spam filter is pretty good at distinguishing between actual spam and emails from Qantas). Besides, I normally get a text message from Qantas as well as an email on solo bookings.

You should have been notified, but does your travelling companion have higher 'status' than you in Qantas Frequent Flyer? I've heard of that happening in the past (that is, the 'status' passenger gets notified, for some reason). but it was a while back now.

Nope, I'm Platinum and they're silver 🤷‍♂️

Phone 'em up and clarify details etc. They are busy, but the Plat line when I called yesterday allow you to request a call back. You might like to do it next week, but I think they are going to be busy for a long time, so I wouldn't put it off forever.

I recently flew ADL-DRW-ADL and both the inbound (1hr later) and outbound (2hrs earlier) flights were changed after booking, assume due to assignment of operation of the route to Alliance, and I did not receive any notification of either change. I was travelling with 2 other people who were both on separate PNR's and neither of them received a notification either.

I had flights cancelled on two separate upcoming bookings, I received two text messages advising cancellation for one and none for the other.

I think I've concluded it's alphabetical. As often get this were it goes to the "A" named person who happens to be a child.

No notification at all is common in my experience.

I had a similar experience for some flights later this week connecting through BNE and the return flights a week later. Both SYD-BNE legs were cancelled and I was moved to later flights. No text, no email, no app alert but SYD+1 (on a seperate PNR) did get emails. I usually get at least an email most of the time.

As a side note, the proposed new return flights TSV-BNE-SYD had a 25min layover! 😳

I've had notifications coming out of the wazoo lately. specially Mondays they seem to update schedules/flights. I had a couple in Aug cancelled that I needed to scramble to make some choices about. In one amusing notification (both from the app and email) I had two flights cancelled and the new flights offered meant the departure arrived after the connection and the helpful message was "We're monitoring your connection..." uh sure you are... lol. Anyway good result (maybe) I was able to reroute and - if I can fly it - get more SC's so.. I'll call that a win.

Anyway have had flight changes and cancels notified both via the app notifications and emails consistently in my experience.
