I certainly agree with Bose QC15 being excellent.

My advice is that if you do decide to go with Bose, buy them from Amazon. You'll have to redirect through a freight forwarder (I use myus.com) but they're only US$299!

Thanks to all for your kind reviews! Looks like Bose is the best option, shall try to look at the best pricing on my next os journey..
Cheers

I have the QC3 and QC15. However i have bought some Sony NC on Catch of the day for $70 and these are nearly as good, lighter and easier to pack (less room).

Yeah sure Bose are great, but are they worth the extra $300???

For me, no. For others, maybe?

If you buy them in the US for $300, Bose is worth it.

We (Mrs 11 and I) each own a pair of the Scosche noise cancelling ear buds. Purchased circa two years ago off Ebay for $55/pair and they haven't let us down.

Yes they're active noise cancelling, fit quite comfortably and work well.

At a nominal 1 cent per point, I think that's a costly way to go about it.

Agreed, although you could say that unless you use your QFF points on a great value ASA ticket or for points upgrades, anything else seems expensive..

On the other hand you could say that QFF points are a "false economy" and the points you earn (when not directly purchasing them) are a bonus and nothing more.

Agree with all you say. It's all down to personal preference when using points.

I take the value view and always use them for flight redemptions (usually well-priced xASAs) or upgrades. Never use them to buy stuff; rather, try to always use the Amex Ultimate and gain at least 1.5 points/$ on the spend.

When I first joined QFF one of my early purchases was a WW $100 gift card for 11,500 pts (less than 2 yrs ago - now it is 14,500). Back then I thought it was amazing value - $100 to spend on my groceries for free and all I did was just use my cc for regular purchases!

I didn't fly much then and was oblivious to the fact that you could get more value from ASAs/upgrades (thanks to AFF). Now, I'm flying more often and am certainly using them for the better value redemptions - domestic JASAs (which is putting me on track for WP in just over a month, which in theory saves me money as you don't have to pay for QP for at least 2 yrs - incl the soft landing to SG). Looking to save up for a long haul FASA as my next burn..

Toying with the idea of finally getting a set of Sennhesier MM450/MM550 (550 are foldable) as they are not just noise cancelling but bluetooth ... $450 though...

Just noted that I think these have now been replaced by a different model...

Good deal going on at catchoftheday.com.au on a few headphones for those of you who are interested...it normally last for a day only.

Thanks for that :) Picked up a few sets of the Sony NC's for the juniors ears, don't think they are quite ready for Bose yet ;)
The Sony's do a decent job, eldest daughter has a set and is pretty happy with them

I have a set of the Sony in ear NC headphones.

This is my third set of NC headphones and they are the best. They are small and keep out an amazing amount on noise. The mulit fit eat buds in 7 sizes are good. I have now settled on the largest for the best noise isolation on top of the noise cancelling ability.
Personally I do not like the bulk of over ear ones and when I lent my set to someone he fell asleep and broke them. The on ear do not isolate very much noise at all and a waste of time.
Prior to the Sony purchase I owned a set of Panasonic in ear NC headphones and they were good, but the push switch failed after 15 months of use and Panasonic would not consider any fix or discount due to being out of warranty.

PSB M4Us are definitely worthy of a good look. (just about to be released in OZ).
I had the chance to hear them the other night at a work do and they were very impressive, sound quality and functionality wise, and i'm set to buy some in the coming weeks before my jaunt to Canada.

Apparently they're being priced here on parity with the US (at $400), which makes it even better.
I was thinking I'd have to go the way of the very impressive sennheiser PCX450's, to get something i'd be happy with. But at $650, it was kinda pushing the budget (specially with the need to buy 2 pairs).

Depends what style you like QC3 sit on the ears, QC15 sit over the ears - I go with the 15's myself.

Which quiet comfort are better please...the 15's or the 3's

I have one of each which you speak of... Both are superb. Though I marginally prefer the QC15's, as are sitting over ears. Recommend you go to a store for a test run. Next Byte or bricks & mortar Apple Store are good try out locations.
You will be more than satisfied whichever you choose!
