I'm seeing more and more non-QF flights being offered by the QF website in conjunction with QF flights.

For some sectors I was looking at today, I was offered:

United for flights in the U.S
Emirates for some internal Asia sectors.
Singapore Airlines for some internal Asia sectors.
Cathay for some internal Asia sectors.

Not unusual to see Cathay, Finnair etc turn up at times - but I think it's the first time I've seen Emirates, United and Singapore.

How new is this?

Some examples on routing?

Doesn't seem right especially for SQ and EK..

Here's one example. Note that flights are extremely limited (eg School holiday traffic I think), so they must be really stretching out the options.

Edit: Here's a second example around the same time (UA)

To/from Manila I've seen both Jetstar Asia (unsurprisingly I guess) and Philippine Airlines (both via SIN) as well as CX via HKG. I am guessing EK (and probably SQ also) was to CMB? And I even think I've seen Garuda sneak into the mix as well.

I wonder if you could bring up those marketed options on another medium, e.g. ITA, ExpertFlyer, etc., i.e. with fare rules and all.

Very surprised how the hell those display at all. They aren't shown on the route map, and FWIW the number of points and SCs you will receive on those SQ, EK and UA flights is a big fat 0.

A little deceptive if they’re not prefacing the flights with a clear message that says you wont earn on those flights. I’ve often seen ANZ on flights to ZQN routed through AKL and would happily book if they allowed me to earn/gave lounge access.

I've often seen the UA flights offered when trying to get to destinations other than LAX and JFK in the US.

I am still to notice other carriers on some recent itineraries I have been trying to price from overseas.

As to how recent it has been happening I remember noticing United flights and other carriers when QF started introducing SCs for Any Seat Awards a few month ago.

I'll take a stab and suggest its a side effect of the extension of anyseat awards to include 'selected' interline flights.

And to test my own theory - yes they do appear in AnySeat Awards. So I guess they have 'escaped' to the booking engine as part of that change.
