Hi.
Just wondering if anyone is as avid a non-smoker as myself, and if so whether you have found any decent resorts that are relatively smoke-free, or that have properly enforced non-smoking areas?
Being of the age where smoking was only allowed in nightclubs and restaurants for a few years after I turned 18, I've always been able to avoid it in Perth and have not learnt to put up with it, nor do I wish to.
I normally stay in 5 star properties, generally a starwood or hilton-type when convenient, but in SE Asia even these places are filled with smokers and have poor or non-existent non-smoking outdoor areas. (I am posting after 5 days at the LC Laguna Nusa Dua, from my Conrad Suite in Nusa Dua. Both have been fine because occupancy is extremely low right now.
The Santhiya in Koh Phangnan was the worst 5 star property I have been to for this, and I posted my displeasure on Trip Adviser. All their dining rooms are open air so the 'non-smoking areas' just fill with smoke as the walls serve to trap it in...
So, what hotels have you found that seem to understand non-smoking areas, if any?
