[h=1][/h]I'm sure we all want to visit Columbo - apparently its rather picturesque with lush green forests, tea plantations and great food. The offer is purchase tickets between 31 May – 30 June 2017, min 3 day stay, travel completion between Oct 30th and 30th Nov. 2017 so a month. Not sure of what they are like to fly with or aircraft used.

Went to Sri Lanka last year and loved it. Non-stop would be a huge positive - I would consider going back with the family now.

Not thought of going there but looks interesting, what would flight time be and aircraft used I wonder?

Isn't there another thread on this? Think flight time is around 10 hours and it's going to be an A330

This will be very interesting to combine with the ex-cmb QR flights (once they sort out their terrorist issues :) )

Highly recommend visiting Sri Lanka!

As a side note - my flights last October on SQ ex Sydney, via SIN were $1080 in Y.

Weather in November - coming out of rainy period and high 20s, but still higher rainfall in higher areas and cooler. Even in mid October, rain was brief during the day (South Coast).

There is NOTHING redeeming about Colombo. Sri Lanka as a whole, is truly fabulous. I quite like UL J BUT it's no QF

SriLankan Airlines to fly Colombo-Melbourne from October - Australian Business Traveller

DavidFlynn said:
A spokesperson for the Sri Lankan flag-carrier – which many years ago abandoned flights to both Sydney and Melbourne – indicated to Australian Business Traveller that the schedule would see four flights each week, using an Airbus A330 jet fitted with lie-flat business class seats to make the 11 hour journey.

Fare of $766 advertised on Ozbargain. Good for mixed class travel onwards from CMB... with USAin J exCMB for USD1600 (plus many other good deals).
