This is nonsense about baby formulae. I've travelled several times from LHR and LGW with a baby and made up formulaes in the bottles. You have to taste everything.

Its not nonesense, it is way over the top and LHR and they make you check ever unopened formula and baby food, medicine etc. which is a complete joke

I am curious as to what misinformation were you given by Qantas in relation to baby items? Was it different from what is said here Fly - Baggage - Carry-on Baggage - Country Specific ?

Commuter, you think I should just get over it........ how very nice of you!!

I think you did not read my previous emails correctly.

Scruff marks etc. to a personal item of mine IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I place my luggage on a QANTAS flight and DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO LOSE IT. I DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO TAKE TWO DAYS RETURNING THE SAID ITEM AND ON IT BEING RETURNED, being DAMAGED!

This surely is not acceptable to anyone????????

Thank you also, for judging was it to be a large amount of money etc....

The point and principle is that I am tired of QANTAS and other large companies saying one thing to you on the phone and then finding out it is completely different or wrong and causes you a lot of hassle, money and grief! (see previous emails).

I didn't just get over it as you say, this is why QANTAS gets away with so much, as people like you think that this is acceptable customer service. I have now been compensated accordingly.

You don't happen to be a customer service represantive do you, as you seem to have the same attitude that most of them have! Unable to possible see the point I am trying to make and telling me to put up with it!!!!!!!

My reference to what was nonsense was the advice regarding you couldn't take baby formulae through.

London airports, LCY/LHR do not make exemptions for baby formula, liquid medicines. Customers carrying these are treated as potential terrorists.

I assumed "do not make exemptions" to mean that you can't take it through if it is more than 100 mls (seeing as anything less than that can be taken through). As you have stated, they do allow you to take it through, but you need to taste everything.

I agree that the process is OTT and silly. But then so is having plastic knives while having metal forks, glassware etc, as pointed out so elegantly by Amanda Vanstone a few years ago. It's all just theatre.

Hi, my apology, I miss understood. Every one is all for safety and security and I think we all understand that things are going to take a lot longer to check through security etc. but some of the rules are just illogical!

I think it is just who you get. I once had a major disagreement about taking a pack of baby wipes on board (which cost about $7 !) as I was told if you squeezed all the liquid out of them, it would be more than 100ml!!! If this guy wasn't having a laugh,,,,,,,,,,!!!

I wasn't allowed to take them on :-(

Unfortunately it is our wonderful governments who makes up these often absurd rules. And it is airport staff (not airline) enforcing such law with their interpretation.

Persist with QANTAS and they EVENTUALLY do the right thing

Thank goodness all you had to do is persist. As will be for any reasonable airline.

From anecdotal evidence, to get anything out of a US-based airline, you need to either bring it to the mass media, or sue.
