Not happy Jetstar!

As I say, ex Darwin we have no choice. We are even devoid of Star Class seats as apparently our aircraft are run by Jetstar Asia. Many of us now choose the more laborious task of flying south for 3 to 4 hours to over fly Darwin in order to fly with a half decent airline.

No *class because the aircraft are not big enough, since its only on the A330. I feel for you, however there is a bright side, your only $99 from SIN where there is a plethora of options, assuming you can check in.

Yes, $99 ... plus taxes, which more than double the cost. That being said it's still a reasonably cheap fare to Singapore - when it's available, which isn't that often. The most recent problem that people have been complaining about from here are canceled flights to Bali and Vietnam, which have left people stranded at both ends. These have mostly been because the load was too small so the flight was canceled and passengers pushed to the next day. But a recent Vietnam flight was canceled because one hostie was crook (with a hangover) and there was no back up staff so the flight couldn't leave due to legal numbers of staff on board.

They recently stranded me in Singapore by closing the check-in early. I arrived the stated 1 hour before flight time to find a completely empty desk. The young bloke doing excess baggage informed me"No Jetstar go early; always go early".

Just a friendly word of advice that the stated 1 hour before flight time is when the flight closes so all pax should by now have already completed the checkin process. It's not really a good idea to arrive at the time time the flight closes.

For domestic I suggest people arrive 1 hour before so they still have 30 minutes up their sleeve before the flight closes for the actual checkin process & to allow for any glitches such as taxi not turning up etc. For international flights (incl. travelling within Australia on an international flight that departs/arrives at international terminals) 90 minutes prior would be a good time to arrive at the airport, again allowing a minimum 30 minute buffer for reasons mentioned above.

Thanks, and I understand the time limitations having flown a great deal over the past 35 years, however Jetstar stated on the paperwork I had that check-in close 60 minutes before departure for international flights. I double checked this to ensure I was not at fault before lambasting the staff. And on this particular occasion the girl I finally spoke with claimed to have been at the desk at the time I arrived there, and I was gauging the time by the terminal clock. I know she had packed up early simply because she wasn't there when she said she was and this was corroborated by the lad on the excess baggage counter. I was obviously the last passenger to check-in and she obviously got sick of waiting.

I have been a platinum flyer for a number of years with Qantas, I have flown with all other major airlines across Asia and the US and some rather dubious ones in Indonesia and the Philippines as well, and I get better service checking in and flying with the likes of Lion Air and Cebu Pacific than I ever do with Jetstar. I note that you are also Darwin based so you would understand that with Qantas pulling all full service aircraft from international routes, we are held to ransom by this mediocre airline who now has a monopoly on all northbound flights from here.

"Not Happy Jan!"

"Not Happy Jan!"

You've got me really confused. You say that you turned up 1 hour before the flight time and now you say that you were aware that check-in closes 60 minutes before departure. 1 hour = 60 minutes. What am I missing? you've said that you turned up when check in closed!

Would've been a few more 'not happy Jans' today as JQ73 DRW/SGN 11Oct canned due to crewing requirements. :( :(
