Bit O/T now....

How does one get the oneworld status reset on a booking ?
I have been Platinum for some time but older bookings when the ticket is printed say Sapphire instead of Emerald....

And when you put in an upgrade request do they re-check your status at time of allocating upgrades or just what you had when you submitted the request ?

Qantas normally upgrade status automatically on bookings; but it does not always happen. Also, they can be issues with bookings made through other airlines.

Generally the best way to fix this is to have your frequent flyer number removed from your booking and then immediately re-inserted. This generally refreshes your status for all segments in any booking this is done for.

Do this with all carriers you are flying with.

I figured i could do this but not a lot of benifit since its an AONE5 and will have Flounge access all the way anyway. Not to mention i could just flash my card. Was really just wondering.

Of course, there's emerald benefits that may be more useful than sapphire.

e.g. During IIROPS, an airline may deal with the top level travellers showing on their manifests before the mid tier ... flashing a card wouldn't necessarily help here.

YMMV...

They are likely to deal with paid 1st class passengers pretty much at the top of the list

Of course; still I feel it makes general sense to have the higher status reflected in booking/PNR records.

I was thinking about the upgrade question and the answer is not really apparent online. I have a gut feeling it's the member's status at the time of awarding the upgrade, not status at the time of request that is used. This is partly due to the need to provide your pin when requesting and the following clause in the T&C's:
...
Once an upgrade has been requested, all PIN changes between the time a Flight Upgrade is requested and the time the flights departs, must be advised to Qantas reservations, otherwise the Flight Upgrade request will not be processed. ...
(Of course, this gut feeling could simply be indigestion ... :-|)
