That is correct (or it at least was when I ran some competitions in the past). The price which I said the prizes (MP3 players, back before every phone had one built in) was worth was based on quickly looking at a website to get the price they where flogging them off for (From memory they where being sold for about $120). The price I paid for them wholesale was about $70.
I recorded down the website I got the quote on, and the day I got the quote (and placed that information in the terms and conditions from memory) so that if someone did see the same thing for say $80 I was still covered.

How many QFF points for the myer voucher? If its more than about 3-5000 points per $100 I wouldn't do it myself.

Through xASA redemption's I would expect to get at least $600 value out of 13500 points.

0.74c / point. Its roughly the same as redeeming for economy flights on a normal day. If this is what you are happy to do, and many folks are perfectly happy to redeem FF points against economy travel, then the Myer redemption is going to be about the same value

The vouchers work well for the non frequent flyers though. If you take a trip to Asia once a year or 2, it would take you many years to get a free flight. However, for every return flight you take, you would almost have enough for a $50 voucher, which would be topped up via your groceries shopping. If you aren't into flights, and prefer the practicality of having $50 in hand now rather than waiting for years for a flight that you might not even be able to book due to lack of seats, the vouchers are of excellent value.

Before I started flying a lot, every time I took a flight, I would send a $50 voucher to my folks and that brings a bit of a smile to their faces. These days, I give them free tickets. The smiles are a little bigger.

Ok thanks. Yeah probably won't be using it to fly. Have free amex reserve and edge free dj flights. I don't credit to QF. I only use it for my woolworths shopping and bonus points on everyday rewards orange card. Might redeem it and go towards a purchase of the new iPAD in Myer Hopefully they can match BigW's price

Everyone values points differently.

I value QFF points ~2.5c/point but if I buy them I would not want to spend more than 1c/point.
