NRT lounge crawl 8 June 2025

All flights? I thought there was only supposed to be room for one of MEL or BNE to take up the vacant slot at HND?

At the moment MEL-NRT is 5 x weekly and BNE-NRT is 3 x weekly.

Under the current schedule, SYD-HND has a daily departure (QF59/60) and a 3 x weekly (QF25/26), but this has previously been double daily.

Right now, the schedules have SYD-HND dropping to a single daily departure at the end of October.

If they are assigned VA's previous daily slot, they might try to run SYD, MEL and BNE with the current frequencies all from HND

See HND slot discussion. QF submitted their plans for the slot. Basically drop daytime SYD both directions, add MEL and BNE daily to HND.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does that mean there will no longer be any QF services to NRT (assuming plans are approved/implemented)?

For now I would assume that would be the case.

I'm currently booked on QF62.
Also ... as a placeholder ... I have booked myself onto MH71 redeye departing 10:30pm in economy ... booked through to SIN next day.

There are currently plenty of options home from SIN the evening of the 9th.

(QF84 to SYD - that seems newish ...)

I just noticed you mentioning this. The schedule right now daily for every JP flight. EF is listing the schedule for them a bit funny but QF is flying daily and scheduling for daily too.

And for those who have - crossed fingers and a backup plan?
I was able to request J rewards on QF80 with a connection to ADL. When I read that VA were pulling out of Japan I wondered if QF would go after the slot and change the MEL flights to HND. At that time I implemented a back up plan and was able to find a J seat on JL773 NRT-MEL. As things unfold I am sure I will be making additional changes.

Just something to be mindful of...

With Virgin Australia withdrawing from CNS-HND in February, their slot will likely be picked up by Qantas. This means Qantas will probably move either its NRT-MEL or NRT-BNE service to HND (my money is on MEL).

If this is the case, then those booked on Qantas out of NRT next April may get an airport change.

The IASC's decision is targeted for 10th October this year.

Unfortunately I wont be able to go this trip. Work for the long weekend plus JP trip 2 weeks means i really can't go to this.
