It is going ahead. Some have booked non-QF flights to safeguard against the changes.

I am staying at the NRT HH the night before. 25,000 points seemed a better deal than A$500.

The Hilton may not let the riff-raff like myself in, I have booked into Mystays which is near by.

The Hilton is great value, their special $700 steam toasters are worth checking out at Breakfast

It was reported the change will take place before 30 April 2025. I know a few members have booked QF flights and will need to make a call.

I am looking at the last CX flight as well.

Matt, I have spoken to the Hilton, and they will let you in if you commit to cleaning up your act.

I may even stay there myself.

I'm Platinum now. Have book CX542 to HND on 5/6, and CX501 from NRT on 8/6. Will probably just stay somewhere in Tokyo for all 3 nights and head to the airport in the afternoon, depending on when others plan to be at NRT.

EDIT: Also I'm QFF WP so can guest one person into the JL F lounge. Flying in J. The cabin on CX501 looked almost empty...

If checking luggage, ensure there is an early check-in. They can be pretty strict about these things in Japan.

For those on MH, check-in opens 3 hours before departure (they were strict with this the last time I flew).

For those on the last CX flight, check-in opens 2 hours 45 mins before departure. However there is an earlier CX flight so their counters will be open earlier - I'm not sure if they will accept bags though.

Pardon my ignorance, but this only affects those with checked luggage, right? Anyone doing carry-on only should still be able to do OLCI ahead of those times?

Correct, any airline that allows OLCI should be fine. As long as NRT don’t need an airport printed BP. (Looking at you SIN.)

As long as NRT don’t need an airport printed BP. (Looking at you SIN.)

SIN is not a secure environment, which drives that requirement. I expect NRT to be better designed and allow OLCI.

Does having OLCI facilitate early check-in?

It looks like OLCI is an option Narita Airpot I will most likely print out a copy as backup at the hotel.
