NRT lounge crawl 8 June 2025

My backup plan of NRT-HKG-SYD may be foiled, as I at this stage I need to be back in SYD by around midday of the 9th.

So if QF removes all their flights from NRT (which is likely), I will drop to Bronze unless plans change.

I believe the stated plan is for QF to move to HND. Would the organiser consider moving the LC to HND?

Personally, I'm only looking at CX and MH at this stage.
CX 501 at 2130 is wide open but operating the older 330, but they do sub regularly.

CX 501NRT 21:45 → HKG 1:40

Stops: 0
Aircraft: 333
Frequency: Su,M,T,W,Th,F
Reliability: 78% / 19m

MH 71 is the new 4-class 359, a superior aircraft. Again, availability is good, so you may be able to snag the new F seat!

You may have time constraints if you need to check luggage and can't perform an early check-in. I'm looking into this now and believe CX may have better options operating five flights per day (The flight prior to CX501 is CX505 at 1830) versus MH's two (MH89 at 1030 and MH 71 at 2230).

I always travel with checked luggage, but the genuinely suave AFFer certainly does not.

Leaving out of HND on QF would be ideal, given that you could book QF60 to Syd at 2200 and check in at 1725—given that QF80 leaves at 2025. I have confidence that QF would accept my bags for QF60 at 1725, especially given my recently achieved exalted status of Lifetime Silver.

CX also gets you to HKG and the fantastic lounges. So on the way home, you can essentially relive the 2024 Lounge Crawl ;)

I agree; it's a terrible arrival time, though. While HKG is 24/7, not all the 'good' lounges will open when you need them.
Yeah I don't think there'd be any/much time to get into a Cathay lounge at HKG before they close for the night. Also no Airport Express at that time. I'll be getting a taxi to Central if anyone's headed that way.

Oh and while it's an A330, it is at least the long haul business class seats, as scheduled at the moment.

I've booked a hotel near Kanda station from Thursday night. Nothing planned so keen to meet up with anyone who's around Tokyo in the days before the crawl.

Sorry but the NRT location stands. Most participants have already bought tickets. When QF change their JP base, those with QF tickets should hopefully have some flexibility.

If all else fails there might be two simultaneous runs from different airports. Which is of course not ideal.

May have been mentioned previously, but if I'm reading it correctly, CX offer self-service bag drop at Narita up to 24 hours prior to departure time for those with checked luggage.

Semi-related as I'm exploring some options... Does anyone know if JL will through-check Dom-Int JL-QF on separate tickets?

There are conflicting official statements from JL, but most people online seem to be able to through check JL-AS/AY/BA, and there is a statement from JL dated on 2016 saying that they will continue to through check JL-oneworld.
