Number of cards in Apple Pay per device now limited

I recently bought a new iPhone so I was adding all my cards into Apple Pay. It seems you can no longer add more than 6 cards on the same device, whereas I was able to add up to 8 cards on my previous phone. Anyone know of a solution?

Have recently bought an Apple Watch partially to double up on the number of cards that can be loaded. Wasn’t aware they’d reduced the number as it’s pretty handy to load them all on these devices. Just check my iPhone 7 and I have 8 loaded. No one can see whose name they’re in if they’re that way inclined when helping you with statement credit offers.
