Odd letter with new Qantas Gold card

I got my Platinum card for 31st May and I had qualified 6 months early with enough SCs and flights. I got the same wording saying "you may not qualify", seems like the letter is automatic with no checking.

Yep same here.
WP with anniversary in May 1 2020
Qualified in Dec 2019 for WP again.
Got the letter saying they had gifted me WP for 1 May 2020 to 30 April 2021, even though I had already qualified.
As far as I am concerned, they would need to gift me to 1 May 2022 to mean anything.
When they did this, no one knew, how all this was/is going to play out, and lets face it, still don't.

I am hoping that what we got was just a standard letter to all who were expiring, and they will look at it again in a few months time and re evaluate, when travel starts happening again.

I booked 3 DSC trips in Feb for May/Jun/July which would have got me to 50% of WP again, to try and keep it for 2022, but who know what is going to happen now.
All those trips (conferences) have been moved to similar times in 2021, so outside me re qualification period.
I have banked those trips for now, but not sure what I will do with them.
Apparently, I will still get the DSC for flights I take, but what I can't find out is if I swap the 1 USA flight for 2 ASIA flights, if I would get DSC for both of those ASIA flights or just one of them.
Either way I will get a lot less credits.

Mike

I receved a similarly ridiculous letter in May after I had well and truly requalified WP. It reads as QF’s perverse way of congratulating themselves for providing you with the status extension you already earned, but now the requal has been enhanced and made complimentary.

BTW I am LTG so possibly this is also my free upgrade to WP.

cheers skip
