I quite enjoyed my crumbly scone as a light afternoon treat along with a cup of tea...
After i had consumed it, i noticed the expiry date of the scones have about 5 months shelf life.
Talk about preservatives!
Many of those type of products are actually Frozen right after baking - it's likely that's the reason for the 5 months.

If the shelf life of a frozen scone is a year (I don't know what it is!), then it was a seven month old scone!!

Maybe said "shelf" is in a Freezer. :p

In recent years a few such items being served on Qantas flight have been made at 'Temptation bakeries' at Chelsea Heights which is close to where I live. I know a few who work/ed there.

I have also seen the notation on the packaging to consume within a certain tens of hours after defrosting.

I must be doing something wrong, I've never even seen these fabled chorizos.
Rubbery braised beef on the other hand.......

Requesting the fruit platter ensures I avoid it on the Pilbara runs. Pity the interstate flights seem to be laden with them as well. Oh well, more fruit!!

Irritating things served up for me on QF:

1. Giant cookies

2. Penne anything

3. Lavosh crackers (water crackers are fine)

I'm hanging myself out to dry here BUT... If you want gourmet food go to a restaurant. If you are expecting haut cuisine in any airport lounge or on any flight in any class, you have probably come to the wrong place. (be gentle with me).

How about just serving curry for every meal? Then the lounge experience can be carried through to the flight in a seamless manner.

 No problem. Skipping the meal(s) may actually help me lose some weight. ;)

JohnK just accept that you have heavy bones like me or go to a fatter doctor. Also muscle weighs heavy so that might be the reason the scales are reading high.

I wish I could convince myself that was the case. :(
