Just checked in for QF11 but no BP issued. Said to collect our BPs at airport. Are they still doing paperwork checks or should I be concerned?

There was an equipment swap from A380 to B787 a few weeks ago and we were reallocated good J seats but the flight is very full - hence the early OLCI. QF is still showing same seats allocated in the app and website but not in the “Trip Summary” when I click through “Checkin/Boarding Pass”.

Are they still doing those random contractor questions from the US government?

I think a lot of internationals are still BP at Check-in
Yep, I know there’s been a few posts on various airlines so I wouldn’t have thought twice about it but for the equipment change.
If you're not a USA resident, they need to check to vaccine cert.
USA resident will automatically give out BP.
Thanks. That’s what I was assuming. Had to do it every trip last year (although didn’t go to the US). This is our first OS trip this year. Was kind of hoping the world had moved on…

Yep, sadly the USA (and one of the last few countries) still has vaccine requirement and that stupid attestation form needed to be filled out too.

There's also a (small) chance you've been specially selected for SSSS...

SYD+1 was pulled aside once at the secondary screening point. We hadn’t even noticed the dreaded SSSS until then. I don’t recall it preventing issuing a BP.

Yes, had to show passport recently for an international ex syd. Assume I'll have to do the same for a domestic flight connecting to an international one soon.

This is normal. happened to me both recent US trips - they need to sight the vax cert for US entry (and presume also confirm passport too). You're still checked in btw, just not BP issued.

Thanks. Yeah, definitely says “Checked in”. Having uploaded stuff and done the attestation etc, just a little surprised but then again, LOTFAP has always had special rules.

They bumped you down to Silver? 🤣
Today’s QF11 was bumped to a B787 (advised about two weeks ago). So presumably anyone in 1st had time to go a day earlier or later (if that was possible) but otherwise relegated to J (the horror).

Entering the 1st lounge I asked the staff would you still let them in if they didn’t have status - she said “Of course”.

Last time I checked (about 4 wks ago) 1st was pretty empty - so I guess it was mainly disappointed upgrade hopefuls today?

yeah the OLCI thing doesn't mean SSSS - that's more random (or there are certain set conditions where it will be applied iirc) but it's unusual the agent didn't ask In theory they're required to see the paperwork to confirm it. Yes I think it's silly and yes I believe US will soon remove the requirement, but for now that's what it is. As I noted earlier I've been very consistently asked to show the vax cert (but not ESTA or attestation stupidity form) and more than happy to. Does seem a lapse by that agent.

anyway all good. enjoy the trip to the US! :)

ESTA is never asked for, the airlines check this through their system. I know on AA you get a "DOCS OK" message on your boarding pass if the immigration requirements have been met.

Attestation forms are electronic via the airline now, so they shouldn't be checked once submitted (and even then, my last flight on BA LHR-JFK I got the spams to fill out the online form, never did it, not questioned at check in about it, not asked for anything at JFK. Didn't show my vax cert to anyone). In theory the attestation form exists so they don't have to ask you for the vax certificate.

Well, I've been asked to confirm if I'm on an ESTA but no, not needed to show it. and yes I know they are both electronic. Last trip the agent actually said something like "I see you've filled n the attestation already. Thank you for that" so... yeah cool.
