I have a friend that has been with amex since 1982 she has a weird looking plat amex with a big white swirl
I asked her if she gets a free flight she said no
so she called them
they said she was asked 4 yrs ago did she want an edge with free flight
the man said its like the plat charge card but cheaper.
anyone heard of this and what are the plusess to stay with it. other than a $395 card for free.

They did offer an alternative (upgrade) to the Gold Card at one stage to allow transfers to Qantas (i.e. Ascent Premium) as well at to the regular Ascent partners. I wonder if the card is this. It looked strange with gold (I think) and a white (or platinum) swirl, or similar. I have only seen one such card, and that was a while ago, which is why I am not sure of the colours. It did seem to have a swirl of some kind, however.

Is it possibly an American Express Rewards Advantage Card (which is a Charge Card)? It comes with Ascent Premium and is $249pa. Long discontinued but dad had one.
It's the bottom right on this page: Membership Rewards

Got one of these. Great card with a free Platinum CC attached. Was upgraded from a gold charge card many years ago & given a platinum CC before Edge came along.
