Got a second email from these guys ( first one about a month ago ) ...

Due to having a Rewards booking at the hotel for NYE, they want to offer me their 'special' NYE dinner offer:

At $375. per adult ...

What a bargin ( not ) .... for what is nothing more than a regular seafood buffet !!!

I too have a reservation from 30/12-2/1 but have not received an invitation for dinner :shock:

You must've booked a while back. I spent the day searching for accommodation and got zip. Admittedly it was a last minute thought hence the search today. I didn't think there would be much available tbh.

Would suggest he booked when there was a glitch in the rewards price which was about May from memory. Not the only person here with booking for NYE, but no way am I eating in at that price. Having said that not quite sure where I and my family will eat given its NYE, probably nowhere special. Haven't been near the Rocks at NYE in recent years, am expecting it will be fairly chaotic and not that easy to get around and/or in or out of the Rocks either.

Oh and I didnt get email either though I did find that price when I was googling whats on at the HI.
 
FWIW, I have a three night 30K all up reward booking from 29th-1st which I cannot use. I can cancel the award and be re-credited the 30K.

They did call my home last week asking for me. SWMBO supplied my mobile but they did not call.

Reading this I can assume they were look for dinner booking - must have filled the quota ...
 
The ref. to $375. pp is also on the PP Newsletter site, under 'dining offers' ...

Apparently, if a PP Member, they will graciously offer you $57. off, making a price per person $318. ( an absolute steal, eh ?? )
 
I received the email last week that advised the hotel conditions on new yrs eve, and the offer of dinner for New Year's Eve. We arrive the 30th and checkout 2nd. Looking forward too seeing the fireworks in Sydney for the first time!

I finally received the email, and the prices to secure a view room. Dont think I'm interested in the dinner at that price!!
 
I've got booked a Exective King room.......are these located on all different floors?? Are there any rooms with harbour views?? I did email then back last week but yet to get a reply.....
 
777 the email stated the terms and conditions of staying New Year's Eve....eg no access to car parking after 1pm, no alcohol to be brought in, no visitors to hotel after 4pm...you also had to sign it and email back to them.
 
This is for a points stay. It might be different for a paid stay.

Dining options in the local area will be extremely limited in the local area due to the road closures and crowds. Our regular in-room dining menu will be extremely limited during this evening due to the demands placed on the hotel kitchen.

Only registered guests will be permitted on the hotel premises after 12pm on the 31[SUP]st[/SUP] of December 2013. The hotel entries will be manned by security guards to ensure that guests enter the hotel only.
Unless pre-booked and paid prior to check-in, rollaway beds will not be available over this period.
Only registered hotel guests will be allowed to access the rooftop area of the hotel to view the fireworks. Security will be on site to verify guest details.

Seems a bit different: No visitors after noon on 31st. No mention of banning alcohol. And no need for me to reply at all.
 
I just went back to my email received.

It definitely states no visitors to hotel after 4pm, and another section states as hotel carries a liquor licence no alcohol to be brought to hotel or it will be confiscated.

It also asked I signed to acknowledge the terms and conditions.....I booked on points too.
 
My email was received just today. Perhaps they have had a re-think about some parts of it?

I just rung them and yes they revised the letter to answer more questions bring asked. (I upgraded my room type and asked for a high level etc last week)

Looking forward to it but not the crowds, especially having come direct from lying on the beach on a Fijian island!!
 
I will give it a week or so before i go looking for a letter. Anyone else not got one? I have points booking for 3 rooms?
