Old Sydney HI on NYE 2013

I upgraded my room type and asked for a high level etc last week

To the executive room? There's a mention of that in the 'new' letter (Room Upgrade Fees) but no actual prices. Can you tell us how much it was?

Thanks Austman....I was planning to bring some food and a bottle of wine or two for NYE as I suspect that eating out on NYE in the city will be impossible.

I have just received an email which is similar to what Austman has posted above, including the $$ option to upgrade to a Harbour View room:
Maximum Occupancy Please note that only the number of guests nominated in your booking may be accommodated in your room. Regulations stipulate that the maximum occupancy per room is 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
Only registered guests will be permitted on the hotel premises after 12pm on the 31[SUP]st[/SUP] of December 2013. The hotel entries will be manned by security guards to ensure that guests enter the hotel only.
I'm a bit surprised by the above stipulation about a maximum of 3 adults, as my reservation clearly states 4 adults will be staying (2 double beds) so I might have to email them to check.

If you have a two or three night stay, surely they ( security ) won't be 'checking' what you bring into the hotel in your luggage on the day or two BEFORE NYE ??

That's the plan ;)

I thought it a very strange letter!

Essentially...

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney to welcome in the New Year.

Now here is a long list of:

* What you can't do and
* What we will not be doing for you
...
...

We look forward to welcoming you to the Holiday Inn Old Sydney and making your stay a memorable one.

I just went back to my email received.

It definitely states no visitors to hotel after 4pm, and another section states as hotel carries a liquor licence no alcohol to be brought to hotel or it will be confiscated.

It also asked I signed to acknowledge the terms and conditions.....I booked on points too.
My leter had no mention of alcohol, and maybe it was the way I read it but seemed to only ask me to sign if I wanted the meal. Have people actually signed this, am not sure we really have to given we have a confirmed booking, I never like it when people try and changes T&C's after the event!
