Hi there, I am looking at a flight from Muscat to Bali (via KL)which I located on webjet in J class for a pretty good price (and awesome short 1 hr 5 mins layover). When I try to book it (or even just locate it) on Oman air site it doesnt bring up the flight combo...same if i try the MH website- nothing. I am loathe to use a webjet as I always like to book direct with the respective airlines, however this is a a really good combo. Its sold as a point to point fare...even through 2 carriers with seperate flight numbers. Is this too good to be true ?

It's a fare that exists but will require a travel agent by the looks. Both carriers will offer you the flights but on codeshares at a much higher price.

What would happen with a missed connection in this case? Would MH accommodate on a later flight?

That's what I was wondering too. I called Oman air agent in Sydney and they said MH would accommodate if missed due to late first sector. I still don't like to use travel agent though as really dislike multiple layers of ppl involved in my bookings (except chatting about it here, ha ha)...but it's a good deal so i might have to do it just this once ! The other risk is the logistics of getting to the correct gate in time as KLIA large and what if arrival & dept gate/terminals miles away from each other...and i wont be issued a boarding pass for KL -DPS leg in Muscat either, I'd need to get that at the transfer desk in KL.. luggage fine to check all the way through though. too many variables, risks... or worth it ??

I booked something similar recently, had to use a TA, went with Aunt Betty.
Sydney to Bangkok with Thai, Oman to Frankfurt via Muscat.
Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur via Muscat with Oman, KL to Sydney with MH, all in J.

We leave on April 15th, back May 6th. Only problem so far is that I can’t choose seats on the MH leg. Rest has been done ok.

Looking forward to Oman Air, enjoyed their J product last year, Bangkok to Berlin, via Muscat and Frankfurt, Munich on the return leg.

That's what I booker too for May /June! Although I didn't trust Aunt Betty, so booked via Oman Air website. The KL option was available for my dates but I chose Thai from/to Sydney...creature of habit.
Keen to hear your experience when you get back, might change my mind about booking via agents 😄 (unlikely)

Try a local travel agent or Flight Centre. I have booked Oman Malaysian combo last Nov via Flight Centre and all went smoothly.
I booked the same flights last May with Oman air directly via their website and it was a disaster. They cancelled the flights and then took two weeks to get alternatives; all of this with less than 3 weeks to departure. Ended up on Qatar J to Muscat.
YMMV.

By the way - Oman air business is FABULOUS!

WY still rates as one of my favourite airlines in J. Superb product but beware if something goes wrong. Their customer service and call centres are woeful and make QF look competent. Touch wood I’ve only had one drama with them and I gave up in the end and was out of pocket by a few hundred dollars

hi Everyone, just about to book it on Webjet, the price was $2550 approx AUD per person one way in early August and it was approx just 11 hrs or so Muscat to bali....which is perfect...if it all works !
I think this is cheap compared to alternatives that i have seen and nothing that streamlined. particularly as we'll already be in Oman for 4 days having a little trip as part of a bigger trip....
Please let me know if anyone thinks this is not cheap...for the timing and convenience

I’ve done some pretty extensive searching… $2550 looks on the cheaper side for a semi-fast flight.

The Muscat/KL/DPS combo isnt even available on the Oman air website, even for a higher price, they simply dont sell it. This is what is making me nervous buying it off webjet or other TA.

I've found it for $2317 now on Aunty Betty...but worried about all the awful reviews of that agency !

Hi FF helpers, I went "old school" and booked with a Flight Centre branch with a very efficient agent. I am happy with the price paid which was the same as Aunt Betty online. Thank you for all the help, I would have had no idea re Aunt Betty to even know about the cheaper price in the first place. I actually thought Cossie was being sarcastic and they used their actual Aunt !!! Looking forward to trying Oman air and hopefully no hiccups ;)

IIRC Aunt Betty is fully owned by fright centre? I used them for a ticket once, but it was just a week before departure, so not much chance of anything wrong.

Hi, a quick report back, the Oman Air flight out of Muscat was delayed by around 4 hours, so the connection from KL to DPS was missed. However we were put onto the next MH flight from KL to DPS and still in Biz so it all worked out ok. (I thought it may have all come unstuck here).
Check-in at Muscat airport was fantastic initially with a dedicated check-in terminal for Business & First class, went downhill once dealing with the most passive aggressive check in staff member we have ever come across in all our travels, who left such a bad impression of the airline and who compounded the stress of the delay. Inbound into Oman, the customs staff wanted to chat about Australia and kangaroos and were super friendly !
