On the road again

Through security quickly although rude staff who were trying to tell a young child’s parents to make her stop crying otherwise they couldn’t go through.
what the. The girl was probably about 6.
I heard one of the staff say “surely there has to be some compassion” but another said “no, we’ve been told to do this”.
strange.
quick walk through the terminal to the Qantas Club.
cairns is the 7th busiest airport in Australia.

Once inside, while not earth shattering it seemed like a reasonable domestic lounge.
certainly some of the best views of any lounge.
i reckon from the moment i walked out the hotel to the moment i walked into the QC, it would have been 20 minutes.

Food offerings were a bit meagre, but the coffee was good and barista super friendly.

as if I hadn’t had enough carbs all week I decided on some pasta and fried rice.

So it’s two hours until departure.

Why do people insist on talking on their phone with the speaker on?
I call people out now if they do that on the bus or in public. My apartment overlooks a small car park for the businesses below and the number of people who sit in their car on hands free and I can hear all the conversation. If it goes on long enough I just go down and tell them to shut up

Whoever he was talking to, I presume his wife, said “I can’t hear you”.
i said “I can hear you”

And the bar is open and with no car to drive at the end, I can imbibe.
unfortunately it’s going to be a royal pain the bum to get home.
i have booked the Gull Bus which services Geelong and the airport. $39 one way.
i arrive at 5.15pm and there is a service at, you guessed it, 5.15pm. i will have to wait around for the 6.30pm service. I have checked-in luggage.
that gets in to the train station at 7.40pm before the local bus at 8.16pm which will deliver me to about 250 metres from my home at around 9pm for $3.80.
however, if I don’t feel like waiting for half an hour for a local bus, I’ll just Uber it and fork out the $50 to get home almost an hour earlier.

not sure what happened to the head on this.

The really weird thing is I am a Richmond fan and we play at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong tonight.
normally I definitely would have gone.
i will either be going straight past the stadium in a bus or an Uber as play is underway in the second quarter.
this is a blessing in disguise I feel. We have fallen from our lofty perch of the best side in the comp to one of the worst and I’m afraid it will be a massacre tonight, so not being there is a good thing.
flight now delayed from 1.45pm to 2pm, which definitely rules out getting the 5.15pm bus, it also lessens the time I need to hang around at Melbourne airport for the 6.30pm service.

Bit of plane spotting.

Meal service was a choice between chicken or beef. Thank god no pork. How anyone can eat that stuff is beyond me.
dave the cabin manager recommended the chicken and it was really delicious with a bit of spice to it.
paired it with a cab sav.
i saved the cake for later.
