I have one spare night in Bangkok next month to kill. I have bookings at the Hilton Millennium and the Hilton Hau Hin but have left myself short 1 night. Basically this night is from check out Hua Hin till the following evening with the QF flight back to SYD.

So...

What should I do with this night? My thoughts are Bangkok Hilton again, but not knowing Bangkok, I don't know if this is good or otherwise. I did intend to go to Pattaya, but the long drive puts me off.

I want easy access from Hua Hin, and I don't want to have to fly anywhere.

Ideas?

What's your budget? If you can get a good rate I'd book in at the St Regis Bangkok and spend the afternoon / evening floating around the AMAZING infinity pool overlooking the city skyline and sunset:

Perfect way to relax before your flight back to Australia.

Day cruise along the river then catch the MTS and stay at the Dusit Thani on S9.

Evening walk through the park, into the night market, then back to patpong. There's a good billiard hall in patpong1, (cold beer) and no hassles from vendors.

Around 5pm head to the rooftop of Sirrocco, level 64 of Lebua Tower, for sunset drinks :) After the sun sets, say 8pm, go to Vertigo Bar, level 61 of Banyan Tree Hotel and have dinner there. (Vertigo is 5-10minutes away by taxi, fare should be less then $1 aud) I find Sirrocco good for drinking whilst Vertigo is much more relaxed, quiet and one can enjoy a very good dinner up there. Definitely better than that Kobe Jones you had last night ;)

+1 Vertigo at Banyan Tree Hotel

And the answer* is either:

... world's your oyster
... tough guys tumble

So just be a bit careful at Vertigo!

Check in at The Peninsula, take a swim & spa....followed by a river sunset cruise, then dinner at Napa on 26.

Don't waste your money on a fancy hotel.

Go and do everything you can do and then sleep on the plane when you leave.

Last time I had an overnight stop in SIN basically dropped my bags at a friends place and we went out and did a huge night of sightseeing and the like and then he dropped me and my bags back at the airport the next morning and i slept all the way back to Aust.

The Conrad could be an option as well if you have never stayed there.

If you wanted to visit Pattaya don't let the "long" drive put you off. It is only ~90 minutes from BKK airport and is actually a pleasant trip during the day.

When are you there by the way? I am there until 06 May....

John, 17 till 22 May. I was going to head up to Ha Long bay, but too much travelling in the short timeframe.

If there is one thing I have learnt about BKK it is that if you have money, you can do ANYTHING you want in that city. Nothing is taboo and nothing is off-limits. Think about what you would most like to do and your taxi driver will take you there.

I think the Mrs munitalP is going as well, so there will be some limits.
