3 family members need to travel to US, one way. All leaving from different east coast ports.

Where can i get good one way fares in J without paying the cost of a return fare? Travel in September.

Preferably one world.
Thanks.

Which US destination?

I'm seeing Asiana one-way for $3,200 to LAX and $3,700 to NYC from SYD which seems like very good value in the circumstances. You get their best product on ICN-LAX or SFO.

QF is more than double this.

Could be LAX, SFO, ORD or DFW. Need to get to central US. Only care about J for the long legs. Thanks.

Don't have all the info to be definitive but it is always worth looking at return fares in J even if your not going to use it - as one year for return option and despite the 'fine print' there are options for credit to other fares etc which might suit your circumstances.

It doesn't fit the 'one world' requirement or J for that matter but AirNZ for flexibility of departure and onward in US has premium economy single at $2k in Sept. My experience is that Cathay doesn't penalise single fares ex-HK so maybe QF to HK then CX ex HK might be a reasonable option.

Good suggestion, but QF quoting $5000 one way to HK!!

Best i can do is JAL via NRT. Stopover only 1 hr 10 mins. Is this enough at Narita?

NRT-ORD then on AA. Any comments on AA 777 J?

Other options on FJ via NAN (J comments??) or AirNZ.

i would look at air pacific. Price it as two separate tickets - one AU-NAN then a second one NAN-LAX to take advantage of the FJD. I havent checked the exact fares, but their return is aournd $3000. Hopefully maybe a good one way.

Otherwise to HNL in JQ star class then an AA YUP to where you need to go in the USA.

What about finding some availability using UA mileage plus or similar and accessing that way. Didn't take much looking found SYD-YVR and onwards in AC for 65,000 or $2,500 USD worth of mileage plus miles.

If it's comfort you're looking at .... I'd question the FJ/JQ business/AA YUP options on cradle seats, are they really that much better than premium economy?

While I agree with the general thrust of that comment... except to say YES.. C on FJ IS that much better than Y+...

OK.. its just a big old fashioned cradle seat... but it's a lot wider, has far more recline and pitch than any Y+ available transpac...
