One way Ticket - Singapore - each way ?

Hi,

I apologize if this has already been covered or if this is in the wrong section or if this is just too dumb a question.

I was wondering if I could buy a one way ticket each way to Singapore, as in one way to go(AUD) and one way back(paying in SGD) ?, cause its quite a bit cheaper than a return.

I have NEVER travelled one way and don't know the International constraints...

Will I face interrogation at the Singapore airport being an Australian citizen booking one way ? or will my return ticket proof suffice their rules/laws ? :S

I will be staying for 8 Nights..., I will be going by Etihad from Brisbane and coming by Scoot to Gold Coast.

Yes. No issue with doing this.
Scoot particularly is much cheaper ex-SIN than Australia - I am presently in Asia on two one-way Scoot fares.
more often than not for most full service airline the international return (certainly when on sale) will be cheaper than two one ways

Thank you for your swift reply !

My issue was travelling to SIN in Dec 2012, Scoot costs AUD$667+ one way to SIN on the day I wish to travel, while Etihad costs $664 one way(special)... and my return leg from SIN in Jan 2013 will only cost me $218 on scoot, but double or more on any full serviced airline.

The only reason I am worried is cause I've always thought flying one way would be perceived in the wrong way, like I should expect the suspicious/evil look from officials or something...?

Have they ever asked you to show your return ticket at immigration or anywhere else ?, so i can be ready to whip it out on the spot... lol

Always have printouts of your airline tickets for the whole trip ready when checking in.

eg. When departing SYD on Scoot I was asked at the time of check-in where I was going after SIN, and the looked at (and indeed noted) my Air Asia connecting flight to KUL.
Less likely to get asked at SIN itself (they are very lax) but I believe the airline gets fined if you dont meet immigration policies, so they tend to be the strictest.

I've done this several times with various airlines, including QF, JQ, and FJ and have never been asked to see my return itinerary. One of these included going to SIN on an award flight, and then returning on a separate paid ticket. No questions asked anywhere along the trip. But I agree, take a copy of the return itinerary just in case.

I have been asked a few times for proof of my onward itinerary by the airline that was taking me to the country. They have even entered the eticket number in the computer system which I assume goes through to immigration in the country I was going to. But can't recall having to do that for Singapore.

Also it is possible to leave Singapore by road, train or ferry, so you might not have an onward airline ticket in some circumstances. The Singapore arrivals form asks for your length of stay and next onward port. As long as you fill those out you should be fine. But have details of your return trip ready if needed.
