Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Darn will have to wait till Monday when I hope Australia staff are back on deck. I was unable to have the call centre staff person in the Phillipines put a request in for a rewards seat for me . It appeared she did not understand what I was requesting
I have to say I have really noticed the difference between local and overseas staff.

For this routing -- MEL-ADL-DOH-AMM-TLV-AMM-FCO-DOH-SIN-LHR-HND-NRT-MEL -- I got a GCM mileage of 34,299. Under the 35,000 allowed but I've read of instances in this thread where the Qantas calculation is different.
Thankyou much appreciated. Perhaps I input it incorrectly on Qantas website? If successful will ring customer service..........(not looking forward to that!)

Yes know what you mean. Hopefully they are back on Monday for you. Just out of interest, what time do they start (Australia staff)??

Could someone please advise best time to call the Call Centre for:
1. To get an Australian or NZ CSO and
2. For least wait time
Thanks

Quick question. 'If' I have to cancel my OWA (prior to starting it), do I get all the points refunded??
Quick answer. No.

Slightly less quick answer;): there’s a 6,000 points per pax fee. You get the rest back.

Edit: confirming 6,000 for cancellation. 5,000 is the change penalty.

I just noticed Qantas has adjusted some of their service/booking/change fees as of December 18. Anyone know the specifics of how or whether these changes extend to and/or influence OWA bookings?

You may be able to get this waived if there is a pending change to one of your flights. I have had varying success with this (see recent posts in this thread)

In most cases AFF'ers will be booking in J or F so no change to service fees: "Service Fees will not be applied when changing Classic Flight Rewards booked for travel in Business or First class."

But, for economy, changes made via contact centres have increased for domestic and trans-tasman by 500 points, but dropped (?!?) for international by 300 points.

'Reward assistance' booking fees have also increased- 6000 up to 7,700 for international; 3,500 up to 4,500 for all other. Previously these were waived "if it could not be booked online". I wonder if that will be impacted

@Mattg this might be one for the newsletter; did anyone get any notice of these changing?

Thankyou.

Just wondering if anyone 'of late' has altered their OWA 'originally booked for 280,000 points' and the points deducted have remained the same, (not increased to 318,000)!?
Grateful for any insight please.

Hey has anyone had any luck booking flights to Havana with Qantas points? It doesn't come up as a destination on the Qantas website but searching on the JAL site I can see reward seats available on Iberia from Madrid? Can you still book these seats through qantas? Is there some kind of embargo on Cuba from Australia/Qantas?
