Note that BA's systems can misunderstand a QF FF number if it is not entered with the correct number of leading zeros. My QFF number is of the format 82xx_ and I can enter it as a 5 digit number in QF's systems and it is recognised.
However, when my number is in a BA booking as 82xx_ (5 digits), BA does not recognise my status. Entering my QFF number as 0082xx_ (7 digits) means my QF/OneWorld status is recognised.
I found this out when my BA boarding pass showed my QF FF number but no OneWorld status and a BA F Lounge agent would not let me enter until I showed her my QF Platinum card. She was confused as to why my status was not showing on my boarding pass and offered to investigate. She removed my QF number from the booking and re-entered as 7 digits and it instantly knew I was Emerald and added it to the boarding pass.
So if you have OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald status and BA system is not allowing you to pre-select seating, check that the reservation has the full 7 digits of your QF FF number entered, including any leading zeros necessary.
