Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I'd be waiting 6 weeks until the leftover J come out for early Oct for NB status....
Best bet will probably be LAX-BNE-ADL or SFO-SYD-ADL, DFW-SYD is slightly less likely in my experience.
Try CX SFO-HKG-ADL/SYD or LAX-HKG-ADL/SYD as well (use multistep to bring up these 2 legs, might need a stopover 24hrs in HKG)

thanks cjd600, appreciate your assistance

No worries - to clarify, should be able to see CX options now if they're available (only QF is delayed for NB from what I have noted)
CX charges will be a lot less than QF too

SYD-JNB-CPT - 2 sectors, stop #1 in CPT, transfer 1 of 2 allowed at JNB
CPT-JNB surface - 1 sector
JNB-VFA - 1 sector, stop #2 in VFA
LVI-JNB surface - 1 sector <-- you can turn this into a flight and it won't affect your stop count
JNB-DOH - 1 sector, stop #3 in DOH
I am going thru this in my mind again.

Would not the

JNB-VFA as well as being one sector, also be transfer 2 of 2 allowed thru JNB and thus render the third transfer thru JNB inconsistent with the OWA rules?

Your CPT-JNB is a surface segment so doesn't count as a transfer.

Hi Roomer,

You will have to wait for the internal connection on AA but you will shortly be able to book LAX-NAN/NAN-ADL via BNE,SYD,MEL. You are flying FJ but it will give you certainty in J and you could always change later.
EDIT: Sorry I just realised you can't use FJ as it is not in One World (OK on QF or AA awards).

Well it just worked on the Multi trip using FJ so thanks for the tip. Is FJ business class any good?

Just so I don't have a repeat of this, are there any other one world partners like Fiji Airways where the 280 K points cap wont work ?

Fiji Airways ins't a oneworld partner, it's a Qantas partner. All oneworld affiliates (eg. American Eagle; Dragonair) are permitted on the QF oneworld award.

EK Emirates is the same, can book an award but not part of a One World award

Anyone who has seen my previous posts know that I have come a long since undertaking making my first time Oneworld booking with points but I would appreciate (yet again) some help with a point of detail.

I am aware that for the business class oneworld award to cap off at 280K points, that you must "fly with at least two Oneworld airlines other than Qantas".

But does this mean that part of the trip requires you to fly Qantas ? and if so would a domestic Qantas flight suffice?

No, you don't have to fly with Qantas at all. You MUST use 2 non-Qantas OneWorld partners.

Great thanks very much TheresOnlyOne Jimmyy, I got the impression from the Kiwi Qantas CSR yesterday that you had to and the wording I saw, didnt seem ( to me at least) as being crystal clear. Appreciate your quick response

Can you believe it! I finally get to see booking available as you had suggested (albeit a few days out from my preferred date) viz LAX-HKG-ADL ie viewed onscreen as a multi-trip but Qantas says they cant book it for me ( have rung up twice speaking to different people just to double check) as it must been booked by them as a LAX-ADL booking ie they cant book it in two hops! Some sort of issue and will get back to me on Wednesday! Cant understand why there is an issue when I was booking so far ahead to avoid missing out. Be good to hear from people for them to say "dont worry, be patient it, will happen"

CX uses married segment control so it's probably not available as a married segment.

What date are you after? The problem is QF telesales can't search 2 flights simultaneously. They have to do LAX-HKG + HKG-ADL and that causes issues.

CX opened up at least 10 days ago and it's the end of the school holidays. Fridays ex-north america are also traditionally no good for CX award availability.

There's nothing +/- 3 days of 06/10/2017 for through-connecting availability for LAX to ADL.

Any of the below I can guarantee will be visible to QF as I'm searching under QF's availability. Sometimes they may need to put in the HKG-AU flight first, then the LAX-HKG. Other times they need to put in the LAX-HKG first then the HKG-AU.

The closest I can find for you for LAX-SYD:
