My Understanding is that calling just after the Australian call centre opens (6am est?) May get you a local operator. You could start the call by claiming that you have received inconsistency from their side, as opposed to blaming the denial of the rule directly. Ultimately you want it escalated to a manager. I think playing dumb being like "oh why isn't it working?!" As opposed to "this should work make it work" will get you more points.
That's how I got a flight home from JFK to PER via HEL, LHR, DOH and HKG back in USDM days... "It looks like the fastest way home..."
Hi guys
Just reporting back after the TORRID experience i've had with QF this last week trying to get some kind of booking in prior to September... After the website kept breaking on me I tried getting them to help me via phone, text and facebook and absolutely none of them understood the rules for this fare, nor seemed inclined to want to help at all.
TBH I was flabbergasted by the whole experience. I'm still waiting back to hear from them on FB since Thursday, text since yesterday and a promised return phone call at 11am this morning (that's 13 hours ago for those keeping score.
If anyone needs assistance getting flights in, DO IT ASAP!!!
Thank god my sheer stubbornness won out, because I've found an itinerary that worked for me:
MEL-HKG-JFK-MIA-JFK-AMM-KUL-NRT-MEL (business, hell yes.)
33,600 miles. Couldn't get to South America in the end because I couldn't book IB on the QF tool (thanks for the tip on that one). Also went to major pains to avoid BA - by flying JFK-AMM (RJ) rather than JFK-LHR-AMM (BA), I saved over $1100pp. NUTS.
In the end, fees and charges were $2500 for 2; pretty good, considering I have some pretty sweet flights.
Anyway, thanks folks - couldn't have managed it without you.
Now for a breather and then going to see if I can slip another flight in somewhere.
Cheers
Ross
