Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Could you share the response re: Air Nostrum please (I too want to use them if possible). Good luck on the phone......'that call centre' o_O

Flights marketed by Iberia and operated by Air Nostrum or Iberia Express (that is with a flight number starting with IB) can be included IME. I have been told both "yes" and "no" by call centre agents at times however, I have been able to put together an itinerary including both on the website, and it maxes out at the Oneworld rate (eg, 132,400 in Y).

However, you may find the additional taxes are more than buying the flight on a separate ticket.

Of course, if the itinerary errors out and you have to call, the agent may assume that it is those flights that are causing the problem.

I was able to book a rtw trip last year (albeit economy). Took like a week to sort it all out. The website crashes frquently so need to try it a couple times.

Should I be in a panic if I have not received updated e-tkts for my bookings by now? Hung up for (what I was hoping was) the final time yesterday at 7.30am. Have only seen taxes for one of the two bookings hit my credit card.

(Don't make me call them again *scream*)

My most recent change, took 3 days for the etickets to arrive (3 sep change, tickets arrive 6 Sep)
I'd text rather than wait on hold again.
Even though you can see your new flights, if you select 'resend itinerary' on QF site, it'll likely still have your old ones

Can totally identify with 'scream'....good luck.

Hi - sorry for the silence - we've been in China and it's exceptionally difficult to get internet! Yes I researched dummy dates for all my remaining flight segments after LHR (which I had previously booked) as we won't actually be taking them until late 2020 through to March 2021. I got a really helpful agent (I know - what a surprise) who made all the bookings for me - he knew exactly what I wanted and seemed pleased that I had done the research and had a complete list of flights ready for him to book. It came in at 280k each and was ticketed within 10 minutes. I am planning to rebook all those dummy dates while we're living in Europe next year to the correct ones. I've stuck to major airport hubs and the major airlines to make it easier to snag the right flights because we can't change the route or carrier but we're so flexible with our dates (we're retired) I'm hoping we can do it successfully! But it will be late 2020 before I find out! Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for the reply, most helpful (Hope you enjoyed China).
Just a thought, when you say can't change route or carrier does that mean if one wants to alter a couple of flights on a OWA that the same carrier has to be used? (Or you have said that because any change of route would impact on your mileage total and also the carrier is the only one available for that route?)

Good tip, Nancy Drew!

Trying to include an Iberia flight TNG-MAD on Qantas website multi-city, it won't accept (or even look). Definitely flight b/w those cities as they show on both OneWorld and Iberia websites.
Also, OneWorld website shows flight MAD-HEL-HKG but this Finnair flight does not show on QF website. (Thought there might be business seats perhaps?)
Am I missing something obvious (as usual) and/or does anyone know why these two issues are occurring please?

This is the full itinerary (on Great Mapper) I am trying to get website to accept.

MEL-ADL-DOH-AMM (stop) -TLV-MAD-CMN (stop) -TNG-MAD (stop )-BCN or HEL (transit) -HKG (long stop, arrange own flights to/from Mel) -LON-MEL

34867 miles via BCN
34998 miles via HEL

Even if I 'have' to ring Qantas, prior to doing so I would like to know this itinerary at least meets requirements for 280,000 points........(For this reason I have tried putting CMN instead of TNG, but still no luck).

Apologies if convuluted my head is spinning. Be VERY grateful if someone who knows what they are doing would look at it this itinerary etc and give their opinion PLEASE!
Thanking you in advance.....

HUACA

Better still, do it online if you can.

Not sure what you mean by HUACA.

Cannot do the multi city booking online. The first leg is flying out of Montevideo (MVD) and the Qantas website cannot still do bookings including this despite letting them know this over 5 years ago. Have no choice but to use the call centre. Have had great service some times and at other times .... Will have to try again but the 2-3 hour wait on the phone is a killer.

Hang Up And Call Again ;)

Are yes, If you are starting in MVD you will have to call (or start from somewhere else). I understand the issue with some of these starting cities is often the inability to accept payments online in certain countries.

You will need to call QF for that one.

For some reason not all IB flights appear on QF website. You need to call or use SMS to book them.

Looking for some early advice, 2 pax traveling in early 2021. Trying to decide if I should try and get this as a (now) 318k ticket, or if it's likely to be all too hard and go for a DONE4/5 or point-to-point tickets. Basic required stops are South America (going to Antarctica), across to Africa (will probably do some Intrepid tour), up to Europe (skiing), across to Canada (visiting friends in Toronto) and back.

syd-scl-gru-jnb-lhr-yyz-lax-syd is a basic trip that appears to work, with plenty of miles up my sleeve (32,157). BUT the SYD-SCL and GRU-JNB might be hard to find availability for 2, since they are relative monopolies. Taxes will probably be scary too given JNB-LHR is BA (though I can do via DOH on QR and still easily come under miles). I'll do short hops on LCCs or similar (not wasting valuable stops on intra-Europe horrid seats!).

Appreciate any advice; I'm QFF gold for what it's worth regarding availability. Dates will be pretty flexible (am planning on taking close to 4 months).

You might need to fill out the API (advanced passenger information) in the booking online if travelling through US and then give it an hour

QR: Simlar to CX. We have a peculiarity in that Mrs 11 is on a separate boking to Miss 11 and I. Whilst I was able to book Miss and I into one of the middle Q Suites I wasn't able to book Mrs 11 in without a phone call to the QR Australian contact number.

Yeah managed all except QR - the error is to do with my partner's FF number in QR got populated with mine (correct in all other airlines so a bug in QR) and so it won't let me finish selection but it errors when I update with another update. Will have to call them.

This has been my experience with QR too. They've been really helpful on the phone when wanting to select seats at least.

Just trying to clarify again, is it possible to book a combination of premium economy and economy tickets together? I was told that all the tickets had to be all premium economy or all economy, you couldn't mix them together even if you were willing to pay the higher points.

You can book seats in any class but the points will be charged at the highest class, in your case premium economy.
